My Q is: How to build the bottomend of a 350 to keep it all together under normal (?) street/strip use? I plan to rebuild the 79 350 engine in the future and maybe put on the alum heads and other things. Maybe, even put on a charger. Info. on this would be appreciated.

Look into the TA Performance block girdle for some serious strength, it is a serious peice of work. I think good quality bearings, ballanced rotating assembly, stronger rods if you use heavy pistons, proper clearances and a good builder would give you a solid foundation to build from.

The TA girdle is only for the 455 block , not a 350. Jim Burek

Maybe they should make a girlde for our 350's since they do have allot of potential. The thought of the main caps walking makes me cringe.

If you're worried, get the block align honed, and use main studs - not bolts. I'd be very supprised (impressed really) if you ran over your crank!

If you look at a 350 block it already has what amounts to a block girdle.........
