Went to the track yesterday, a place called Lapeer, in MI. Can't say much about the track except it was cheap ($25.) This is the first day I have been able to run the car with the new Bigs 950 and I have picked up a solid 3 mph Traction was a different story though. 2.0 to 2.1 60 fts.

On the 5th run I find myself with a nice white BMW 760 that has V12 emblems on the side. Have no idea how they run but I know that it is expensive. Anyway I back into the water pull forward and do a BIG burnout. As we pull into the lights the cloud of smoke starts to drift over us. Nothing like a intimidation. Light turns and I come off for the only time all day with no spin. Must have pulled him 5 or 6 out of the hole. Ran a new best of 12.55 @ 108. I do have to give the BMW credit for being able to make the 1st turn off lane.

Awesome. Just looked it up. A new 760 W/ v12 costs 120,000! Nothing like making a guy with one of those feel stupid.

I run Nitto DR's 275/60 15. On the run that hooked I had a 1.75 60 ft. If that could be consistant I would be pretty happy. The track that I was at has all dirt pits and did not respray all day. I think I should have a low 12 in it at 110 with just a little more work.

I think if I disconnect the front bar for racing it might help a lot.

If I hadn't hooked up it may have been a different story, he ran 13.12 at 109. Thats what I ran the rest of the day. Maybe the old Buick just looked over and decided no way was it going to be outrun by a Bimmer.

    Nice run Doug.

Be a little careful if any future Bimmer's have an M5 or M6 emblem on the fender. The M5 is a 4,000 lb. car that'll run 12.40's at 115 mph bone stock. Cruise at 140 mph all day long and do that with a 300 cubic inch, naturally aspirated engine. I don't own one but I've had the fun of spending a bunch of seat time in an M5, on and off the track. They are outstanding cars in more than just performance.

Great job Doug. Glad to see you enjoying the fruits of your carb switch! (Nice 60 ft. times.) Sounds to me, like you need to do big burnouts all the time, to get those Nitos to hook. Might want to try some M/T E.T. Street drag radials, from what I hear, they don't need quite the cooking, to hook. I am happy for you.

    Regards, John.

    I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great kill.

Last time I was at the track here in G'ville the Porsche Club was there and it was a hoot to see them try and launch their cars. Most just eased out of the hole on the green and drove down the track like they were running up the ramp on the freeway. We had to wait in the staging lanes while they let the club have one staging lane all to themselves and we did not get to play with them. Most ran 14's or slower but a couple pushed them into the 13's and one guy came to play and ran mid 12's. No one got to line up against any of them.

    Thanks guys,
John, Good to hear from you. I was pretty happy with the suspension even if it was hard to hook. This track is know for being bad. I did find out why I was having a wheel hop problem, found a loose upper control arm bolt. Fixed that, no wheel hop! My suspension is set up pretty soft with a lot of sway bar for the street. If I drop the front bar at the track it should pop even better. Also have a set of no hop bars to try.

Sometime this summer I am going to put the SP-1 back on it. That takes just a little off the bottem end and it launches better.
