Not to worry Ricardo, done with ins. company. I'm waiting for the body shop. They're waiting on the parts. Plus the shop is dealing with ins. now if they need more money to repair my car.
Finally....... Parts are in. Waiting on insurance to get back to me on a rental car. Called all week with no response. Called shop to let them know. The owner said he'll talk with them. These guys are great. More to come.
At last, car is in the shop. Got rental all payed for by ins. co. I'll try to get some pics of process.
Sorry I didn't get back to you guys. Yes, the car is done. The shop did a really great job. There was the matter of the pass. rr. tire the ins. co. was supposed to cover but denied replacement of, not to mention the bs they put me through with rental. But all in all everything worked out ok. Although I am going to need to take it back in to shop. A month after I got the car back, I was making a turn when I heard a loud thud from the trunk area. When I parked , i investigated the noise and found that the shop jack I had there came loose, rolled and hit the driver side quarter from the inside which caused paint to crack on outside and very small dent. Oh well. Having some issue with carb and maybe timing, hearing a little rattle on acceleration. Other than that the car is fine. Also have been very lucky. Had a few storms passing through within a few weeks bringing in baseball size hail, totally missing these areas by a mile or two, WHEW! That's the last thing I need. Take care guys and sorry for delay.
I agree with every point in this reply and would give the same advice. I also have classic car insurance with Infinity for $25,000 stated value and pay just over $200 per year including collision and liability. Good luck with your claim.
X2! I had a battle with the insurance company after a lady backed into my wife's '72 Cutlass. It took a while, but I won in the end, and the car was repaired. I am aware that this is an old thread, but the information is still worthwhile.
I agree 100% - Full Comp and Coll for mine is 226/yr - Same Stipulations - BUT-----If its a daily driver that might be a problem - Just making it an old car and not so much rare and classic
Hooray!! I'm glad your car is fixed. That paint is new enough that polishing might take the crack out.
I've read before that some ins. companies like to "limit" the # of miles driven per year but how do they do that. I have a hard time believing they would send someone out to your house to check the mileage once a year. I'm with Hagerty who doesn't have any of those idiotic mileage limits. They told me "we want you to drive your car" which is the way it should be.
Be careful about not having mileage limits in your classic car insurance policy. I looked at Hagerty before buying my insurance and they had clauses in the policy that scared me like, not driving the car to the grocery store, using the car for a backup to another car, driving to work, etc. I have a 6000 mile limit on driving my two cars insured with Infinity. (that's 6,000 miles per car) Since I have a daily driver insured with State Farm, I probably couldn't drive my GS or my Turbo T 6,000 miles in a year if I wanted to. So, the mileage limit isn't of concern to me. If your car is a daily driver I'd check with your agent to make sure you aren't violating any of the classic car policy conditions.
Don't need to call..its all in the Hagerty Classic Auto Policy. Pulled it out and read through the whole thing. Nowhere does it give a mileage limitation..here's what it does say: K. "Classic vehicle" means a motor vehicle of unique or rare design and of limited production that is an object of curiosity and: 1. Is maintained primarily for use in car club activities, exhibitions, parades, other functions of public interest or for a private collection; and 2. Is used only infrequently for other purposes. The "infrequently" word is subjective and a grey area. I drive mine whenever I want and to me that's infrequently. One area they were very clear about is racing..there were numerous references to that.
My insurance company requests the odometer reading on each car at policy renewal time. They have done this for years. It's OK with me - I get a low milaege discount on my Buchev pickup without even asking for it.
Sounds like you have it covered, then. That second clause wasn't in there several years ago when I read the policy.
I contacted my ins. co and asked for a higher mileage allowance, from 3000 miles to 5000 miles per year. I was asked why and I replied that I would like to be able to enjoy and drive the car (pleasure driving) without negating my insurance policy. They responded by saying that it was OK and that they actually encourage the use of the car for those purposes. My policy went up about 35.00 for the year, for two classic cars, 5000 miles allowed on each.
