    I am confused? I have a number off a supposed "430" block, but can't find the number on any of the charts I have looked at on the Net.:confused: The number reads as follows 711266208 and the number on the intake is B-1374062 which does match as a 430 intake, near as I can tell. The motor also reads 430 on the valve covers, but I just would like to know more. Any help you could give me would be great. Even if you could give me a websight to look at that has the proper charts to referance.

    Thanks in advance,

  3. very simple way to tell is at the back of the engine behind where the intake manifold rail there will be numbers cast right in the block..they will say 400 or 430 or 455. Bob

    Thanks guy's,

    That was one of the sights that I had looked at to referance the numbers, do you know of any more?

    I am working with the seller guy over the phone which makes things tough, because I don't have the info right in front of me. I am supposed to talk with him latter on today and will ask him about the casting on the back of the block. I had known about that one but had forgot to ask. What distresses me is that the casting # he gave me for the block does not mach, is this common.

    I have a buick "300" that only part of the numbers mach on the referance charts that I know of. On this particular motor it was the Block casting that was right , but the exaust manifold was off the chart completly. So are the numbers on the net generally right? I have found that the numbers can vary from sight to sight on what is what. So I just was wondering if those are all of the numbers or incomplete lists?:Do No:

    C,

    The VIN should be on the right front side of the block, also in that spot you can find the engine code together with the engine date code.

    Engine codes for the 430's :

    1967 = ND or MD
    1968 = PD
    1969 = RD or RO
