Block “tabs”?

    Whatever these thingy’s are??? They can make header install a pain. Any reason I cannot cut them off?

    Yes, they are commonly cut off for that very reason.

    I cut the passenger side rear off mine to get a pair of MT/SS installed in a 70 455 Skylark . Jim

    I believe they are the tabs that factory used to transport them and pick then up with.............I cut the off and on the trans too

    What do you guys use to cut them off? Abrasive cut off wheel? Sawzall? Grind them off with a BF Grinder?

    ... in 30 years and dozens of my own and customers cars, nearly every one with headers, I have yet to feel the need to start carving parts off the block. Take motor mount bolt out on the side your working on, and jack motor up.. header goes right in easily.

    Oh, I have defaced Flint Iron at a customer's request, and I feel like a hack the whole time.. I charge a hefty fee to do it, mostly due to emotional stress... :p;)

    Must be an MT header thing.. trying to put them in after the engine is installed... I have only done a couple of sets of those, and both were engine installs, where the headers and engine went in together..

    I had a set of Ed's headers early on, and once you have those, you have no desire for anything else..

    My latest shipping cradles actually use those shoulders for the block to sit on.
