the bigger rear tyres for my '72 Skylark Sun Coupe with no suspension or body mods? 275/60 15 needs raised rear with air shocks? many thanks
Oh boy, here we go again. A 275/60R15 will fit in there wil no problems. You should have it on a 15x8 rim with 4-1/2" backspacing to be centered in the fender well. A 325/50R15 will also fit. You will need a 15x10 rim with 5-5/8" backspacing and you will also have to trim about 3/8" off the top of the fender well for no rubbing. A set of air bags at 7-10 lbs will also help by taking some of the "bounce" out of the rear while driving around town.
Bigger Tyres 2 thanks so much! and the bigger tyres (street use) for my friend's '68 Skylark Convertible without susp. and body mods?
68-69 Skylarks are totally different. I believe that the biggest you can fit in those rear quarters are 255's or 245's without and modifications. There is a thread on here about the pre-70 Skylarks and tire sizes. Phil
