Bigger Tyres

    the bigger rear tyres for my '72 Skylark Sun Coupe with no suspension or body mods?

    275/60 15 needs raised rear with air shocks?

    Oh boy, here we go again.

    A 275/60R15 will fit in there wil no problems. You should have it on a 15x8 rim with 4-1/2" backspacing to be centered in the fender well.

    A 325/50R15 will also fit. You will need a 15x10 rim with 5-5/8" backspacing and you will also have to trim about 3/8" off the top of the fender well for no rubbing. A set of air bags at 7-10 lbs will also help by taking some of the "bounce" out of the rear while driving around town.

    and the bigger tyres (street use) for my friend's '68 Skylark Convertible without susp. and body mods?

    68-69 Skylarks are totally different. I believe that the biggest you can fit in those rear quarters are 255's or 245's without and modifications.

    There is a thread on here about the pre-70 Skylarks and tire sizes.
