How can a neon sign "need work"?

Either it works or it doesn't. :Do No:

Yea I was wondering that too. Why didnt he just plug it in to test the condition? But maybe its wired for other thing like 240 or something. :Do No:

It says it's from the mid-50's, but I thought the Centurion was an early 70's only thing for Buick - earlier there was the Century, but...?

Yes, a neon that needs work is a dead neon...unless he talks about the hardware arround the bulbs...

All neon signs can be fixed. Sometimes a new tube may be required or other times the transformer goes out on them. It's not cheap, but it's cheaper then having a custom sign bent up.

I was guessing the seller wanted $500 for each neon, as a V8 buick neon from the fifties was at $499 with the reserve not met.
