:Do No:Can anybody tell me if I need to buy new mounts for putting a 69 430 motor in my 72 gs skylark or can I use my pair of mounts from my riv.? This car I just bought is a original gs 455 w/ac everything but the motor and front bumper, my riv. the roof is very rusted out thanks to the vinyl top!! It"s a shame for the riv. because everything on it has been replaced. I"m pulling the motor and trans from it and hoping to sell the rest of it whole. I would like to part it out but living in a rowhouse and parking on the front street I think the neighbors would be pissed.
Also can anybody tell me what holes in the frame to use and which set of holes on the block to use for the frame mounts?

Is any body able to help with this problem?
If not I'll see if a parts store can tell me if they are the same
numbers, but to keep from playing with the motor in and out of the car can anybody tell me what bolt holes to use ( motor and frame).
    THANK YOU,
    chip

If your 72 is a GS455, it will have the correct frame pads. If not, you will need big block frame pads from a supplier like TA or Poston.
One of Riviera mounts is the same as the GS mounts. It is the passenger side mount. The drivers side one is not the same as it should be the style with the nut welded to the mount and will not mate up to the 72 GS frame pads.
You will need one more of the mounts like the passenger side (no nut welded) and you should be OK.
The mounts need to be boted into the rearward holes on the block to fit correctly in a GS.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark

Dont forget about the oil pan. The Riv uses a center sump pan, the GS's use a rear sump. Naturally, the oil pickups need to be changed as well.
