Its not the track of the eye of the storm that has the biggest impact but he area 100 miles around that eye. Looking at that track if left unchanged the entire state will feel the effects of the storm. I got nearly 100 gals of gas today. Will dig out and fire the generators up tomorrow. Hoping this does not screw up my planned trip to BG.
As of now, WINK, our local CBS affiliate, is saying that Irma will have at least some impact on SW Florida. I'm about to head out and see if I can get some more bottled water, another propane tank filled, and to pick up a (thankfully) non-vital prescription. I also need to get some beer (very important), then I'll sort out the hurricane shutters. I also just delivered an ultimatum to a local generator company with which I signed an agreement on May 27. They promised to install the generator within 4-6 weeks. It's now three-and-a-half months. I told them that the generator will be installed and running by the end of the day on Friday or they can return my deposit check. I'll keep you posted on this.
We use a 50 KVA natural gas powered generator with an automatic closer. The internal combustion engine is a 5.0 liter V8 GM industrial unit.
Glad I'm not still near the space center..... Sold the house last year 1 day before Mathew...... They do expect Irma to strengthen as it is traveling over even warmer waters in the next few days
I was suppose to head back to Orlando for work after my vacation but good thing I got told to head to Idaho instead. Hopefully the fires aren't where I'm headed.
