I just bought a MSD Blaster 2 (chrome) coil. I was wondering, is it better to mount it on the fire wall next to the MSD 6AL box. Or find a place on the motor closer to the MSD distributor.

Just curious to hear, or see what others have done with their coils.

    Thanks

    Mike,
I mounted mine in the same place as the stock points coil, with the same bracket. If you mount it on the fire wall, you'll need an awfully long coil wire.:eek2:

Thanks, but I am not sure where that was. When I first built my motor I went with a HEI distributor, so I tossed the old one with out thinking about it. Iam going with a MSD system because my engine builder said he picked up 15 ponies on the dyno with the MSD system, over the HEI.

Do you have any pictures of your motor that would show you coil?

    Thanks

    Mike,
The coil mounts in a circular bracket that mounts to the front, top, passenger side head. It is located between the alternator and distributor. A screw tightens the bracket around the coil. Someone on this BB should have one they can sell you. I would imagine they were the same for all Buick V8's or other GM products. Post in the parts wanted forum.
MSD makes some great ignitions. Multiple sparking makes for smoother idle, faster starts, and no plug fouling. I have the MSD Digital 6+. Here's a picture of the coil bracket in my engine compartment.

Thanks for your help. As they say "a picture is worth a 1000 works".
    Thanks again.
