I have been considering getting a "Turbo Car" for a daily driver and was wondering where the best place to find general info on these cars is. I have been to turbobuick.com and didn't really find anything on their B-Board.

I am just wanting basic info on the differences and values of the various turbo regals. I have come across an '86 Grand National T-type with 130,000+ miles on it and numerous modifications and upgrades. The asking price is $7,000. I just want to educate myself a little before I even go talk to the guy....I don't even know what "T-type" means. :Dou: ..T-tops maybe?? :Do No:

Any input would be greatly helpful. :TU:

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

Visit gnttype.org as it's probably the best source of info. That price sounds high, I sold my 87 T for 4500 with roughly the same mileage. "T" was just an option package, the car could have t-tops or a solid roof. Solid roof cars are more desireable.

Thanks for the reply Artie. I'll check out that site.

I thought the price was a little high also. Have not seen it yet though. :Do No:

    I kinda like T-tops. :)

Depending on the upgrades and the condition of the car....that may not be
a bad price. T-types are rare compared to GN's and just as quick.

    I like:

    1) gnttype.com
    2)turbobuicks.com
    3)turbobuick.com

86s are far more rare when compared to the 87s. I would think given the production numbers that the 86 would get a few more bucks, but the 87 seems to be the magical year :Do No: As far as the price, it seems fair to me...... Maybe I got my head completely ripped off when I bought mine :Dou: I paid more than double than that and have VERY few options. (Solid roof, crank windows, no power door locks, no cruise, no power seat) Posi and rear window defroster were the highlights on my option sheet.... :pp

    Thanks alot guys. :TU:

I have been checking out sites and am increasing my "Turbo" education. I will continue to "surf" and may contact the owner in the next few days to see if I can come check it out.

In his ad on "auto trader" he listed a rather extensive list of upgrades to the engine and tranny. But also mentioned an oil leak that "may be from excessive blowby in cylinder #5" and that the tranny didn't work properly due to a defective T.V. cable and that he had an extra tranny to go with it. These facts are big question marks for me as far as price goes. Not too woried about engine/tranny rebuilds, but will certainly effect how much I'm willing to pay.

.....Anyway...I am very interested in getting rid of my Honda in favor a turbo Buick. :TU: . If this don't work out, then I'll keep-a-lookin'.

    Again, thanks alot guys.

FYI, there is no such thing as a Grand National T-Type. It's either one or the other.
