    hello guy's

For guitte some time i've been thinking about building a force fed 455 to make some kind of sleeper of :Brow:
now i was just thinking about the heads for such an engine

what would be a good choice ?
    - pre 74 heads coverted to stage 1
    - 74 and later heads ( bigger chamber = lower compresson ratio= more boost )
and have these coverterd to stage 1 valves ( is that possible ? )
    - or go for alu heads from edelbroch or T/A or something like that

at one junkyard i can get quitte cheap engines now woulkd it be smart to look for a 74 smog block ? ( low compresson ) ?
or should i look for the more early 455's ?

problably this will take some time before it get's realized

    Greetings Lennard

hey lennard, the best production heads are 67-69 430 heads They can flow just as good as a mild ported stage 1 head with no port work, but my recomendation would be any aluminum head Just cause they would flow more than any iron head could. Thats if those in your price range
Also To port a set of Iron heads could cost just as much as set of Aluminum heads. Just my 2 cents :TU:

Looking at the exhaute flow numbers the TA Stage II Street Eliminator would be hard to beat but the chamber size is getting a bit small. The Edelbrock heads aren't too far behind and the chamber is a bit bigger so you might be able to get away with an off the shelf forged piston if you wanted to try. I'm going to probably be running Edelbrocks on my twin turbo 455 since they are cheaper and use SBC rockers which are cheaper and I can get them in cho-moly steel.

    @ CTX

are the heads ( edelbrocks ) you will put on you twin turbo 455 stock ?
or are you gonna have them ported ?

what more have you done ( or are you going to do ) on your engine to make it withstand the power
and waht piston's have you got in your block ( to lower the compressino ratio )
    custom made ?
any more specs on the engine ( i've got kind of the same idea as you have )

    Greetings Lennard

    The mental plan is this:
76 "blue" block with its 5/8" oiling and beefed up webbing
Offset ground stock crank to use off the shelf 6.800 BBC H-beam rods
Custom pistons for about 8.5:1 compression with maximum quench
Gessler Stage II ported heads (probably Edelbrocks)
    roller rockers
custom ground billet roller camshaft with the Gen IV firing order to use Gen IV electronics
Probably going to have to be a sheetmetal intake in the form of a box ram with an LT1 style twinblade thottle body for hood clearance
Custom headers and GT wheeled ball bearing turbos with water cooling.

the TA satge 2 3 and 4 all have the best exhaust ports they usually go over 260 cfm no problem they are better than the e brocks because of the raised port, another plus is the extra head stud sealing under boost,go with a spx on top of stage 2 heads.
