Have a 70 Buick GS and want to do something about chrome areas of dash. Tried Plasti-Kote Chrome and it is not shiney like the top on the can. Otherwise is there a place to get plastic re-chromed and is it expensive? Thanks. Rick

A plastic rechrome is the answer but trading in your bezel for one already done is pehaps the best solution. If you do not want to do the redecal job yourself then mabe you would want to trade for one rechome and redecaled.

Mr. G's Enterprises - Rechromed Plastic looks like $204.45 for the bezel alone. The fine print does say they might send you a part allready finished in stock. In case you care if your getting "your" part back or not.

No paint will ever look as good as chrome will. That said, go to a top-end hobby shop and talk to them. Model airplane builders are always looking for a paint that replicates the "natural metal" finish of unpainted Alclad aluminum used by the US near the end of WW II. If the shop can't help, pick up an issue of "Fine Scale Modeler." The ads are often invaluable and sellers are willing to discuss their product and it's applications. Beware: some silver paint will take forever to dry.

Yeah--it is kind of funny on those gold and chrome spray can tops....they have them "vacuum metallized" with the real stuff like Mr G's etc do and then plant the cap on a can of paint that looks nothing like the cap. Pure marketing.
