If you guys had to pick just one CAR magazine to subscribe to, which one would it be? I need a good monthly read and since I don't have an old truck anymore I don't see any reason to renew my Classic Trucks subscription. I still love old trucks but now I have my Buick so i need a car mag to read. By the way if anyone is interested in a trade: 455 Skylark for a 1967-72 Chevy shortbed let me know. I'm in the market, I really want an old truck again. Later, Skeet.
CHP, Chevy High Performance. Hands down, the best written, well put together mag on the market for AT LEAST the last 5-10 years IMO.
As much as I hate to say it (especially on a Buick board)...Jeff's probably right!! Very good magazine, cheap ($1/issue w/subscription), plus there's lots of stuff that translates over to our Buicks...suspension, exhaust, brake stuff, etc. I'd also have to plug GM High Tech Performance!! I really enjoy that one too!!:TU:
GM HTP covers L98, LT1, and LSx powered cars/trucks. Also, Buick GN/TR powered, along with SC3800 powered cars. Basically, any of the performance FI stuff. They've had some nice Buick features in there.:TU:
Check out the new "hemmings " new rag "muscle machines" issue #2 is out now, and has a story with a wildcat gs (1966) in it. this is a welcome departure on "small block chevy" magazines. 12 issues for 12 bucks, and the newstand price is 3.95 per. Frank
Classic American Magazine from good ol' Blighty. Check out their website at: http://www.classic-american.com
Today down at the Carlisle show I stopped by the Hemmings booth to check out the new mag. After reading page 6 I immediately signed up for a year subscription. I was impressed with the outlook that Hemmings has and really look forward to future issues of Muscle Machines. :TU:
I just got my free issue of Hemmings Muscle Mag today (actually got it a few days ago, and the wife never told me:Brow: ), and I am impressed! At $12 for 12 issues, I certainly will be continuing my subscription. Nice to see a magazine that isn't just about Fords and Chevy's. In addition to the Wildcat GS, they had a good article Baybury Farm Buicks! Chris
Opinions on Popular Hot Rodding? 83cents an issue. I picked one up off the stand today, its got an article about a turbo buick powered Pentastar, dual-quad 421 Pontiac, and a story on a 442. So it covered B. O. and P. all in one issue. Think i might subscribe to this one.
Any More Thoughts on Magazines? I bought about 10 magazines after I got my car most are junk but still have pretty pictures. Do you guys still like hemmings muscle machines? Any others favorits to add to this list?
HI Guys, Without a doubt, the best mag out there now is CHEVY RUMBLE. Only mag I've ever seen with ALL color photos. I know it's Chevy, but they also made A bodies. High quality mag. I might add that it's reasonably priced. JOE
I have subscribed to: Super Chevy, Popular Hotrodding, Car Craft and Autoweek for years. Those are the ones I chose.
PHR, with David Vizard and some others doing tech articles, has had some recent, in depth stuff.......coolant physics and solutions, spark plugs, intake designs.....pretty interesting and not stuff that is mega $$$$ ideas. Hemmings is great with the photos and variety.
magazines.... I get all the muscle car mags out there, and have for probably the last ten years or so. I still look forward to getting my Popular Hot Rodding as much as any of them. As far as muscle car mags....hemmings is tough to beat, but muscle car enthusiast seems to like buicks fairly well too. On that note, Hemmings Muscle Machines was in Ohio recently to shoot a feature on a '73 Stage 1 Four speed car. Look for that in the near future. John
I Like I Like ROD AND CUSTOM they are starting to bring more and more 60's cars and the like the Buicks and also I like CUSTOM RODDING...They have some good tech articles in them! I just wish they would do a Mag on Buicks , I have seen ones for Camaros,Novas and GTOs, Pontiacs and etc..etc.. WHY NOT THE BUICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :af: :Brow:
