My inner left-hand tie rod is bent. I went to a garage and they took it off, whemn they went to put the new one on, it was too short, there was only about half an inch in the sleeve.

NAPA came by and took my old one with them, when they returned they brought all kinds of different one's, but nothing fit. So he ended up just heating it and straightening it out the best he could.

I called MOOG and rareparts.com ($98.26!!) and got some dimensions i'm going to compare with mine.

Anyone ever change the tie rod on a 70 Lesabre? Where did you get your parts?

Don't know if this applies to you, but I went on a long and arduous search for the inner tie rod ends for my 69 Electra. Turns out 69-70 Lesabre/Wildcat/Electra inner tie rods are no longer made and must be acquired from our over-priced friends (NOT!) at Rare Parts, Inc. Kanter, RockAuto, Schucks, Napa, and even Rare Parts themselves asked $90-$100 for one of these (driver or passenger I don't remember) and $50-$90 for the other. It seems Autozone has not updated their pricing or their prices ar just ridiculously low. I bought both inners for $107 shipped! First, I hope yours are not as hard to find or as expensive. Second, may the Autozone price be as ridiculously low. And finallly, be prepared to deal with "ignorance is bliss" type staff so do your research for part #'s and mfr.'s in advance. Good luck!

I know its not the best place but did you try Canadian Tire,i was able to get all the premium front end parts off the shelf there for my 64 wagon..

I'm going to go to Canadian Tire next.

GM no longer makes them and the one's from NAPA were the one's that were too short.

BTW, if you do have to go to Rare Parts for any of your parts, call them first and get a part #. Most parts places I dealt with had incorrect or non-existent information. They'll probably be able to quote you the "MSRP" of the part as well to get an idea of what's a bargain and what's not. In my case, the MSRP was DOUBLE what I got the same part for from Autozone!

I found the rareparts.com part on Autozone. I will compare the part # with reareparts. The only problem is autozone doesn't ship to Canada.
