I was refreshing myself on some A-body history and a saftely regualtion listed for 1969 caught my eye. All cars after 1-1-69 must have head rests. I never really stopped to think that my seats weren't original to the car, but they must be replacements because they do not have head rests.

So my question is what seats were original to 1972 and how can I tell what year my current seats are (or even what model they are from). I knew there was no way the factory seats could be in good shape when the rest of the interior was worn to put it nicely:Smarty:

Just for clarification I have a 1972 Skylark

Do you have buckets or a bench? My '72 Skylark vert has the split bench with fold down armrest and headrests which all of the '72 had. Try posting a pic of your seats on the board so we can take a look at them.

That split bench seat in your '72 has a different seat cover on it. Check out my bench in this pic - that is the original 1972 Buick seat cover.

Hmm that is what I was curious about. Would this possibly be a chevelle seat? I am not sure what the differences are between years and manufacturers. This is mostly a curiosity as this is by no means an all original car and I don't plan on making it one completely anyways. My main concern is that if I have seats ment for another car they would be better off with someone who needs them and I can just find an original seat or do a bucket conversion. Thank you for the picture!

Do a search on ebay of the different makes to see if you can find the pattern your seat covers are from - Chevelle, Cutlass, etc... If you will be doing a bucket seat conversion (I'll be doing one as well :) then if you find what car your bench came out of it will be easier to sell.

Very true, I actually did try to look on google to see if anything stood out, but I suppose more research will be needed:beer Thanks for all your help!

It's been a while but the seat design looks like a 68 Lemans.
