Well over the winter I saved up what I could and got some new toys on the buick. Mainly headers, 4 barrel edelbrock 750 cfm, cam and lifters, electric cutouts, and flowmasters. Heres a before and then after shot of the engine. Repainted it the buick red, I think its a huge improvment, tell me what u guys think?

Actually jsut drove it home with nothin but the headers on it, going to the exhaust shop for the cutouts put in and x-pipes to flowmasters tomorrow. It sounded mean coming home though, passed a cop, luckily he didnt care I guess. Thanks for the compliments, Im very happy with it already.

    ??

    Joe,

Out of curiosity was this a Canadian built or bound car when new?

    Hi Joe,
A quick question, looking at the before and after photos, it looks like you don't have the kick down switch on the intake manifold any more, I know you won't need the dashpot with the new carb.
Is it a switch pitch ? what kind of autobox is it, I have an st300 with switchpitch, I have seen threads on replacing the carb switch with a manual switch on the dash or a timed switch from Poston, just wondering if and how you had changed this.
My project (I can't quite call it a car yet, but soon) is a 1966 LeSabre custom, 2 door hardtop, with a 340 and 2 barrel (all going well but soon to be a quad carb set up) with an ST300 with switchpitch convertor, My car was built in the GM plant at Oshawa, Canada, cheers Louis

Louis to tell you the truth Im not 100% sure on your question. Im still learning all of the car stuff (Im 18), Ive always liked cars, especially classic cars but I never started to actually learn on how they worked until I had one. Just Havnt gotten to that part yet! Sorry.

Good job, and lookin good. The other day I drove my car to get some welding done at a friends and I only had the exhaust manifolds on. I stopped at a light beside a ricer and he started reving, when the light turned he was left wondering how a 2 ton Buick made him look like a ass. As if the exhaust didn't cause enough atention, I'm only 21 so sometimes my pride gets the better of me.

I can fully understand sean, gets the best of me sometimes too. Yeah the car was real loud when I was driving it, but didnt have any takers.

I recently pushed my buick 350 too hard, and something went bad in the bottom end. I now have another buick 350 in there while I rebuild the original one. I will be more carefull this time. Goodluck and keep up the good work!

can you post a picture of the headers on the driver side?did you have any clearence problem?hope to have mine looking like that ...winter project.do you notice a diff with the headers?this is the exact modifications i plan on.would you do anything different?cutouts on a lesabre.....now that is COOL!!!

Sure I'll get some pictures of the drivers side tomorrow morning. Yes some clearance problem with the steering box mainly. Well with the headers and the x-pipes it makes a nice sound and is quite satisfying. I dont know if Id do anything different, it would have just been much easier if the headers were made for the car. The electric cutouts are awesome, Ive got my switch for them in the ash tray all hidden away. It has a little light and the green is when the cutouts are open from the headers, red is exhuast throught the mufflers. Its great, I love just changing well going down the road, or anywhere in between. Well I'll get some pics tomorry morning.

    Re cut-outs

    Hi Joe,
Where did you get the electric cut=outs from and do you know if they do different diameter sizes, I have a 2 1/2 dual home made system, and I like the idea of the cut-outs, nice car, cheers Louis

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

    Are you deaf??

Joe, do you really need the lights to tell the difference between cutouts and muffs? I thought I had bad hearing, but you may just beat me?!:TU: :Brow:
