Nice looking car, but that write-up sure dances around the "numbers-matching" issue. If it is not NM just say it for gosh sakes...

Has been for sale several times, previously owned by at least two v8buick members, nice car, but IIRC not numbers matching block.

The term "cosmetic restoration" makes me nervous. It looks like a nice car, though.

It is a nice car with many things incorrect under the hood and once again 69 radio buttons. The things under the hood would have been easy to get correct the first time. Some things will be more difficult to do now.

I looked at this car at Mecum Indy earlier this year. The quarters weren’t nearly as crisp as the Mike Guarise example that was there at the same auction.

IIRC the quarters were replaced when it was restored by the then current owner, and, like my most A-body Buicks sold at Mecum Indy, it has also been a "Gaurise car" :>)

It was not listed as such at the auction, but besides the numbers matching part, there were quite clear differences between the two cars. The matador red Judge he had there was similarly immaculate. Not trying to say this car isn’t a good car, just that the other one was better and this was quite clearly reflected in the bidding.

Which auction did you see it at?

When it was at Mecum earlier this year, it was mentioned as previously being part of his collection. He sold it the first time in 2013.

    2018 auction:

GM’s A-body platform of the early 1970s lent itself particularly well to the convertible body style, as demonstrated by the elegance of this very attractive 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 Convertible that was formerly part of the Mike Guarise Buick Stage 1 Collection.

    2013 auction:

My mistake. I looked at it and the other cars Mr. Guarise had at the Mecum Indy auction. I did mention the peak of the quarters between the two cars when I spoke to him, he pointed out some other things that I should look at. Talk quickly shifted to the matador red Judge. I was there for two reasons, to see the Bamboo Cream Stage 1 coupe to look at color and to see the Stage 1 convertibles and the tendency (well noted here at V8Buick) for the quarters to not look original when cars have been redone. The gentleman who will be doing the bodywork on my convertible project was there to take notes. (Well, I was also there looking for '70-73 Trans Ams, so for three reasons.) I will stick to my prior point, having seen the two cars together, one is quite superior to the other and I can see why he held on to the one longer.
