For sale is a complete BBB timing cover. It includes filter housing, booster plate, TA adjustable regulator, and melling standard volume pump gears, and an updated front seal (not a rope seal). NO broken screws or boogered threads. Also, for what it's worth, the bolts holding the pump housing together are ARP (oooh, ahhh! Haha)

A little history. I bought this cover as an NOS piece. It was a new, never installed part, still in the original GM packaging. All modifications were made per George N's site. (Passage enlargements, radiusing, etc). I installed new gears, a booster plate, and an adjustable TA regulator. The end clearance is set up at .002. It was on the green car for less than 3,000 miles. It made the requisite 10 psi/1,000 rpm pressure, but my engine has excessive bearing clearances due to a "less than Buick savvy" machine shop, so the idle pressure was always around 5psi. I decided to give a fully built wiz bang big dollar TA cover a try to get more pressure. It made 1, yes a whopping ONE more psi across the range than this cover. Dont let my pressure woes worry you, this cover is nice. So since I don't anticipate ever building another BBB, it's for sale to recoup some much needed funds.

It's currently still assembled. If the buyer is serious and doesn't trust me, should they desire I'll pull it apart to show the pocket before money changes hands. But if you would rather trust me and leave it together so it's all set up and plug and play, I'll leave it as is. I'll personally guarantee this cover to provide good pressure as long as all other clearances are somewhat good (since mine weren't and it still worked. Ugh....). If it doesn't and a replacement does, I'll refund you the purchase price, but because I know it's a good piece we won't get to that point given that the pressure is 1 measly psi off from my high dollar cover...:oops::rolleyes:. Anyway, I'll stand behind it. Only catch is it'll likely need the pump opened up so it can be packed with Vaseline for engine priming, so there's always that...

I'm asking $225 shipped to the lower 48. All forum rules apply. PayPal F&F or you cover the 3% preferred, but money order or whatever considered, I'm fairly flexible. Pictures will prove its a low mileage cover, take a look-see! Thanks!

I've considered going to a high volume pump, and kept this cover thinking I'd put it in this one and swap them. But at this point I'll just toss one in the TA cover with it on the car and be done if I go that route. Denny Manner himself was in my car with this cover on it and when I pointed out my pressures said it was fine, so I'm kinda over worrying about it to be honest...

Good parts at a great price.....no wonder it sold so fast.

I have I believe .0035 clearances on everything in the bottom end......the HV gears through the scavenger pegs my 100 psi gauge when the oil is fully warm by 2500 psi:D. It idles just below 50, this pressure is at the filter housing.... next time the motor or trans is out I will put in fittings to measure off the rear since that's where the pressure would be lowest

That's a good point you bring up that I forgot to mention Ben. My pressure readings are via a mechanical gauge feeding off the back of the engine. So it's not an apples to apples comparison to the front port often used. I know my clearances are loose though and wish the pressure was higher, but as mentioned, I'm done worrying about it till I have a concrete reason to.

FWIW, I've run gauges at the front and rear simultaneously and found10 to 11 psi difference , so a reading of 5psi at the rear would be 15 at the front.

I think sometimes we get caught up on oil pressure......pressure is just a measure of flow resistricion......we assume the restriction occurs when all the passages and gaps in the bearing are filled.......but as we hit on earlier the pressure is taken at the start of the circuit.....you could read good and be out of oil by the end of the system for one reason or another.

Larger clearance of course hemorrhage oil dropping volume reducing pressure.......but pressure doesnt keep bearing lubed and cool.........flow does.

I've seen motors with 60 psi at 2000 rpms loose a rod bearing and motors that idle at basically 0 live all season in a dirt track sprint car.

Is it possible to have the rear oil feed mod along with a rear oil pressure gauge and front oil pressure gauge to monitor beginning and end of the oil circuit as well as extra oil feeding? Anyone ever attempt this before?o_O

Well I think you could, but seeing with the rear feed, the pressure coming into the rear is basically the same as the front where it originates from, not sure measuring it in both places would show you anything......

The way the bbb oils the last thing to get oil is rods 7/8.....from the last passage in the block

to feed the rear main, this oil of course comes from the the passage you feed with the rear feed mod........I think most ppl that damage rod bearing in our motors that stems from oil issues it's almost always those last 2 rods......and the rear feed is an attempt to fix this.

I would go through hassle to measure both places with pressure going to rear of the block not going all the way through the system

Valid point. I guess if you have the rear feed mod you can stick with the pressure sender in the front and if you have good pressure there then you know the 7&8 rods are getting good oiling also. I think I was overthinking it all.

I've thought about doing this very thing out of curiosity, have a gauge and fittings sitting there ready to do it. But it's never been able to claw its way to the top of the to-do list. Maybe this year. (Who am I kidding? It won't be this year either.....)
