Okay guys. I have a '69 Wildcat, and I changed out the alternator in it the other day. Hooked it up all and got it all back together and it ran fine. The next morning the battery was dead. So I bought a red top Optima battery. Same thing the next morning.
What could be causing this? I have a strong feeling it has to do with the alternator..

That's not the problem.. A while back there was a light under the dash on the passenger side that stayed on, but I took the bulb out.
I really need to figure out what's causing this, it sucks having an awesome Buick with a dead battery... :(

When you hook up the battery is there a spark? If so pull out 1 Fuse at a time and keep touching the battery clamp to post to check for spark. When the spark goes, away leave that fuse out and start putting back the previous fuses, checking for spark at the terminal after each fuse install. Then trouble shoot from there once you locate what circuit is causing the issue.
Also at night walk around the car in the dark looking for any light. I have run across trunk lights, ash tray lights, glove box lights, hood lights, and some times even a soft glow from the tail lights and running lights =traced back to a shorted light switch:Do No: .
Let us know what you find.

I had a faulty lock cylinder in my ignition switch which killed my battery. Took the key out, but the switch was still on the: 'RUN' setting. By morning, my battery was toasted.

If your ignition is on the dashboard, I'd change out the switch. I've had both the ones in my '67 and my '80 Chevy van go out on me.
