WHERE did you SEE that car?:eek2: I would love to have a "clone" Batmobile! I've called the place that actually reproduces the KITS to make one, and they start at $16,000 (not including chassis)!:eek2: That would be a cool car, even the clone, to have. I think it's a pretty close copy (for a homebuilt).:bglasses:
Re: Re: Batmobile Clone? Oh Alan, you silly goose:laugh: the wagon is being rebuilt as a Ghostbustermobile cloneuzzled: Besides, Jims work is lightyears beyond this crude replica.:spank: D.
Scott, we spied this rare beauty on Main Street in Skokie, Ill, where we live. It was parked in front of a chopper shop. D.
The interior could be "upgraded", but the Body is pretty straight! DEFINITELY has potential!:TU::grin:
Re: Re: Batmobile Clone? Alan, what have you done:eek2: Beth thinks "BatWagon" has a nice ring to it:laugh: got to go call TSP now, its 1 am here...... I'm sure Jim is still at the shop:Brow: D.
I think the Sportwagon would look cool, BLACK with RED Pinstripes!:TU::laugh: With the GS Hood, it already resembles the Batmobile, anyway!:TU::bglasses:
3 more Barris built three more batmobiles in 1966 using fiberglass molds from the original 1966 Batmobile built from the Lincoln Futura Show Car. So I guess this could be one of those.
Re: 3 more NEGATIVE!:Smarty::TU: The other copies are "accounted" for, and that is DEFINITELY NOT ONE of them!:Smarty: There is actually a Private Company in California that does reproduce these bodies, even today, so they are "available" as a KIT! That is an example of a KIT car, NOT one of the "originals", I GUARANTEE!:Smarty::bglasses:
Check out Mark Towle's website. For a cool 65,000 you too could be patroling the streets for the likes of the Penguin and the Riddler. I looked into buying one of these a while back. The mold for the body was taken from the #4 batmobile from what Ive been told. There were 5 Batmobiles all together. The #1 car which was the Futura. The #2 and 3 cars were fiberglass replicas that Barris made for the show curcuit. The #4 car was the drag car. It had a 428 and a 4 speed for exhibition runs across the country. the #5 car was a copy that some private guy made out of a Thunderbird. Barris saw the car at a show and had it siezed by the Sheriff. At the time Barris had copyrighted/trademarked the shape of the batmobile (Similar to what Shelby did with the Cobra) I bet the Batmobile would be a real as***le magnet at the local cruise nights! www.marktowle.com Jason
