A bunch of us went to Barrett Jackson yesterday. We have gone every year. This year was different. It was very sobering. It's amazing how much a 3 year old can change your behavior. We brought my grandson with us. Our usual routine was to go to this gentleman's club. Eat a free steak sandwich and fries. Drink some beers. Hand out dollar bills to these lovely ladies working their way through college, and then go to Barrett Jackson. By the way, this is not like Tattle Tales in Bowling Green! This year we got up early, went to McDonald's for breakfast, and then went to Barrett Jackson. Totally different! We had a blast just like every other year. My son, Scott, and I were checking out this GNX in tent #1. Low and behold we met up with Board member Mike Jones and his son checking out the same car. Great to see you again Mike! As always there were lots of nice cars to look at. Some of them were sold at unbelievably low prices! I'll include some pictures of some Buicks after I post this. How about the yellow GSX that is on the auction block for today. There seems to be some oddities with that car. Like it's color. It just doesn't seem to be the right color yellow, in my opinion. Maybe it's the newer paint with clear coat instead of the old style paint. The front grill... There was the correct GSX emblem on the driver's side of the grill, but on the passenger side of the grill someone added Stage 1 455 emblems. What??? I never saw that before. Our guess was that they had an extra set of fender emblems so they put them in the grill. Oh well... to each their own. We had a great day!!!
Some pictures of the GSX, a beautiful Riviera, and the Richard Petty regal that unfortunately had an LS motor in it.
That GSX has been for sale for a while. It's the "Stage Fright" car isn't it? I guess the owner finally decided to go the auction route to sell it.
Two of my favorite cars right next to eah other yesterday -- the Stage GSX and a sweet 23-window vw samba bus. GSX came from Endicott. Same place I bought my GN. Paint was rough but Icstill want it. i was surprised by how many 55-59 GM cars there were. I suppose it means all the people who owned these things are dying off....
50k Hammer price for someone watching it live or via webcast, websites have gotten into the habit of showing price with buyer's commission. Seller pays their commission based on the hammer price.
Saw a black 65 Riv GS go for 50K....with motor painted Ford blue and brake drums red...WTF?....easy fix tho......makes you wonder...
That gsx was at Los Angeles Mecum last year hid bid was 75 I believe he wanted around 90 at the time. I also believe he is a board member. He is from Bakersfield California if I remember correctly. And yes John it was kinda a funky gsx . Also I believe it didn't have the correct transmission.
