this right out of dream land! found a 72 Skylark custom 2drht 100K miles 350x350 body has very little rust , interior is perfect w cloth seats and door panels.with wood grain, bought new 1972 from Denver dealer. air tilt cruise brakes steering seamist green with green vinyl top.this car is a duplicate to my 72 when I first found it..I don't want to sleep on this find. give me an idea what to offer for this car. this is a one owner car!!
I would press the owner for an asking price. Making an offer is a major mistake. Its his car, he ought to know what he wants for it right? When a seller wont tell me what he wants for his own car and asks me to place a value on it, my standard response is to low ball the price. That usually prompts the owner to put a number on it. Standard response from the seller is to tell me that someone offered him more last week, last month, last year, etc. I politely inform him that Im the one standing in his driveway right now with cash in hand. Worst thing you can do is show that your excited and its the car you always dreamed of. Poker faces!! If the car is red, you really wanted blue. If its a column shift, your really looking for buckets and console. Remember, you have to convince the seller that your doing him a favor by taking that turd off his hands!!! Play the game!!
All very true. If you hop on Hagerty or similar you can find an approximate value as a starting point.
And take CASH, and or a trailer nothing says I'm serious better than pulling up with a fat pocket and a trailer. Making a promise to come back is a waste of time and usually the seller will get cold feet or a better offer, grab it and run
