I couldn't figure out how to remove my balancer bolt with the engine on the stand and everything, so I made a way up. I took a peice of angle iron and drilled 2 hole in it so it could bolt to the fly wheel. Worked great and locked the engine. Only cost me 2 bucks for some bolts, nuts, and washers. Proball y a better way to do this, but I didn't know how.

Clever idea. I did something similar when removing cam gears on a '90 Dodge Daytona.

The first time I did the balancer I shoved an old screwdriver in a hole in the balancer and let it wedge against the block. That was before I found this board.

The last time I did it, I used a suggestion I found here - put a socket on the bolt with a big torque-bar, brace the bar against the frame, and bump the starter (with ignition coil unplugged). The starter does the work for you.

Impact wrench does a nice job...

But a good pair of vice grips latched onto the flywheel seems to do a good job, too.
