Bought it over to England 6 years ago it torched itself 3 months later. So the project began..4 1/2 years all done outside in the English weather !! A **** load of sheet metal work ..boot floor, dash area and almost the entire six inches of the bottom of the car,!!Stainless trim hid it all !! Tons of work with a budget of sod all ..did everything myself..my own air set up tubular rear suspension and loads more,,He's done and runs great next up is a Single turbo 455...if I can ever get my head round ideal turbo sizing (read all the books and weeks worth of forums but still could use help.. if anyone actually KNOWS would really like to talk to yo TEN INCH BUICK are you there ??
Love the lines of the Rivieras. Just so sleek but has a muscular feel/look to them. Imagine an updated take on this machine produced for the buying public? Upgraded fuel injected power plant, modern automatic OD or 6 speed, coupled to upgraded tires and suspension. Push them into the mid 20 mpg wise and see what sells. MAybe make a smaller version to cut down on weight. Sort of how toyota replicated the looks of the mustang fastback and camaro with their mid to late 70's celicas.I'm not saying 1/4 scale, but 2/3? 3/4? o No:
Nice work!! Care to discuss the air bag setup and suspension mods you did to it? Did you have to cut the spring pockets in the front for the bags?
absolutely killer, I see you went with the semi flat paint as well, i think it looks awesome on our second gen rivs
The bag set up was pretty easy..used RE7 bags GC solenoids and made up my own 'manifold' set up in the back..built my own air tank out of seven inch steam pipe to fit under the parcel shelf, to be honest I need bigger tanks if I am going to show off as it emptys after a few @moves' and the compressors take a while to recover..may go nitrogen).Only cutting to be done was the spring turrets ..had to mess around making the bag hats/mounts to end up with a suitable spring rate at ride height..The rear suspension arms are tubular steel jobs with rod ends from suicide doors..same dimensions as the original flexy parts..mean to do the fronts at some point..not so easy !! Tell you what though with the suspension and the low profile tyres the handling is totally transformed...goes round the bends like a good 'un ..even with no anti roll bar (do have a plan for a pneumatic anti roll device but dont see the need at the moment.everything works ok)
