Well today was my first day of vacation. I had plans of trying very hard to finish the Buick up and get it on the road this week. However, things did not go well today. It started when I got back from a short trip out back to do some turkey hunting ( I didn't see or hear anything:( ) I noticed I had a message on my machine. It was from UPS, they had a package for me marked hazardous:Do No: They said they wouldn't deliver it, I had to go and get it:af: I knew that it was only my control arm bushings. The place I ordered them through shipped them in a battery box, so UPS saw the corrosive sigh on the side and that was it:Dou: . So I went and picked them up and noticed that I hadn't received the springs for the car yet. i ordered them as a complete package for the car, new springs, bushings and sway bars. I got the bars @ a week ago, the bushings today, but no springs. So I called them. "Oh, you ordered springs too" they said:af: I was so mad. They didn't even place an order for them. So I re-ordered them and I wait another week or so for them to arrive:Dou: I guess it won't get done this week after all:(

Dan, you could report the shipper for re-using the battery box, that is illegal unless they completely obliterate the corrosive placards on the carton. If the carton had been damaged, UPS could be obligated to call out a Hazmat Response Unit, and they don't like false alarms such as that.

I think I would have told them to ship the springs overnight no charge to you. Seems THEY screwed that one up and since you took your vacation to get the work done they ought to at least do that for you. Just a thought.
Either way, vacation is vacation. Enjoy.

I asked them why they used a battery box and they told me it was a regular practice of theirs to re-use them:Do No: They consider putting an X over the side where it says corrosive ok:Do No: I said " but the word corrosive is still visible", and they said "so?" You are right Robert, I should have insisted on over night shipping to fix their screw up, but I didn't. :Dou: Well it is still a vacation, no work anyway:Brow:

I shipped some parts out ups. I thought I had checked the box over pretty good, but I missed one side of the box that said, "signal flares", and "explosives" and a third one for haz. I was embarrassed to say the least, when it came back, (it didnt get very far) I couldnt believe I missed those labels. . I am a lot more carefull now:Dou:
