What is this leaking gas on my Parent's Impala?
    Just started it now.

It's probably a fuel line. Kind of thing where you really need to be there and look. The picture doesn't help at all.

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

That is your EVAP cannister. Never seen one puking fuel like that, but the car has to have an issue venting the fuel tank and is back feeding through the cannister. That or you've got a fuel line running above it that is cracked or broken. Most likely either/or vent and purge valves stuck and cannister is plugged.

Thanks Lucas&Larry...they're on the way to pick it up.
I figured it was some type of filter, but I haven't been around too many new cars lately...nor have I wanted to be... ;)

Does your dad keep pumping fuel after the nozzle clicks? And clicks and clicks?

No, never...he's a safety fanatic...former Air Force Mechanic and Columbia Gas Transmission Pipeliner for 42yrs.
Probably these Stinking Squirrels all over the property...you can't even leave a vehicle out for a couple nights, they'll chew up fuseable links and plastic on fuel lines.
    Thanks Patrick

Yeah I had problems with squirrels getting into the eaves of the house. Had an pest guy there. Says you can't kill them because the females may have had babies. Myself I tried everything I could. Finally got a trap & baited it daily. Once they were caught at night, can't let anyone see you in my nab, dunk them in a garbage container full of water. 15 seconds later got a long pair of needle nose pliers so I wouldn't have to touch them & threw them next to a tree. Next morning they were all gone except for maybe the tail.
241 that summer. Not even any in my yard now. Musta got the word out.

What he said. Gm cars did this all the time back in the 80s from stuck purge valves. But that was a different system and I left the dealership in 92. Be interested to hear what it wound up being.

They said pinched fuel line on top of the gas tank.
    They covered it under warranty.

    Here's what they wrote:
13101 FOUND DEFECT IN FUEL TANK FEED PIPE REPLACED FUEL TANK FEED LINE FROM TANK MODULE TO STEEL PIPE CONVECTION.

So I guess there's a non metal portion at some point between the Sending Unit and the Evap Box....???
...'cause I've never seen a squirrel chew through metal line.
