"Back to the Bricks"

This a link to car cruise that will take place in Flint, Michigan this coming week. I've been to it the last couple of years and it's growing into a huge event. Thought some of you may be interested. http://www.backtothebricks.org/index2.html

 

Some good things about Back to the Bricks
registration, none= free
Parking. FREE. almost everyone along the route opens up their parking lot.
Traffic... generally keeps moving.
Cops, not unfiendly... don't be stupid.

Busting my butt to get the x back on the road. Engine is back in.

I'll be there on Saturday...

 

Going to be there all week. We start the rolling cruises on Tuesday.

 

I'll be there Saturday early at the North Gate at Saginaw between 4th and 5th Avenue, very near the UMofM Flint White lot where the firetrucks and Michigan Turbo Buick Club will be, hopefully have #14 GSX down there too! Parking for Buicks is on Kearsley Street once again, you must put a card in your windshield that says you are with the Buick Club to help with parking.
Not sure about cruising, Wednesday or Thursday, I recommend going some place and staying to watch, probably Trapper Joe's on Saginaw between Hemphill and Bristol, might be the right place as they are one of our paid advertisers in the Buicktown Newsletter. Hope everyone has fun, they say this is going to be a HUGE event for Flint, hope so, downtown needs the exposure, and then some.:beer

 

Roberta, Can any Buick Club member park on Kearsley or only Buicktown members?

 

Aaron, it's on a first come, first to park basis, you can tell them I said you can park with the Buicks, as you are a BCA member, but they may try to recruit you to join Buicktown, as we have a contest each year to see who can recruit the most new members. I didn't get to park there last year as was working the gate late in the day. Hope to see you there, R

 

Just some thoughts, the 'rolling cruise' is supposed to start tomorrow night, but the crowds on Saginaw St from Applegate Chevrolet to downtown Grand Blanc were out there tonight, already major crowds along the street, took GSX #14 out for a ride to see if I can get #8 exhaust to loosen up, not happening, still rattling, also need to use up the old gas in the tank, so now have about 50 miles on the new engine, if tonight was any indication of tomorrow night and Thursday Night for the rolling cruise it will be awesome, Burton Cops on both sides of the street at Rocky's, lots of burn outs north and south of there, some really interesting cars, but the comment made by some kid, "Hey, it's Bumblebee" when they saw the X, says, now is time for a new license plate for all Saturn Yellow GSX's, "I'm not Bumblebee, or a Taxi!"
As my car, was accused to be a Taxi at a BCA Regional in 1996 in Altoona, Pa! I'm thinking about staying away from the cruises, and just being there on Saturday morning, at the gate, then going home to cut the weeds in my yard with 3 inches of rain last weekend, it needs it, but might go out Thursday, just to see what is happening, If I feel like it.:beer

Went down there tonight. Had fun but I thought some people were getting a little out of control with the burn outs. There were a lot of kids on the sidewalks and they were too close to what was going on in the street. Anyway this looks like it's going to be a great cruise ans show.

Thought I saw your X last night. I was at the lube shop across from Rockys with Rick ( solid yellow x-lark) I thinke bumblebee is better than taxi.

Will be in the GN all week as the x has a blown head gasket. Did not see as much burnout action since I got there late. Cops start shutting that down as the night goes on. Saw Grand Blanc cops North of Bristol rd, what's up with that. Must be because GB was dead. The big spot there is Al Serra's and they don't really participate until Thursday. Weather looks great! If you are here for Woodward come up to Flint for an evening. Thursday will be the big deal.

 

#14 is off the road til Dr. Dave can examine it again, don't want to wipe ouit a new engine! Took black out tonight, though, lots of looks, not many knew I even have it, 7070 miles!:spank: Didn't have any :beer Though!:blast:

 

We will show up Thursday afternoon. Hope it's as good as last year
