So I took out my interior of my 72 Skylark and I am trying to find out what factory color I need to use to refinish them. They are bolted onto the back door panels, and they lie inbetween the back of the back seat, and the inside of the quarter panel. Since my interior is white all I need to know is what type of paint and what color do I use to restore them, and if you need to know they are metal trim pieces. If someone could help me out on this I would appreciate it.

Are these the pieces you're referring to? (these are big car parts, but you get the idea)

    trim pieces

No those are not the pieces, the trim pieces I am talking about are actually screwed into the back door panels, and are about three inches wide and about a foot or so long. They also have a curve to them so they will mold in with the back seat and the inside of the quarter panel. These pieces start out connected to the back door panel, and then work their way up to the top of the back seat around the back tray.

    rear arm rests

These parts are actually arm rests for folks sitting in the rear seat. They should be the same color as the door panels. Black interior/black armrests. White interior/white arm rests. If you can find a trim shop have them make you a set of covers. Pull off the old covers and put a small amount of 1/4" foam on the top of the arm rests. Simply glue the new arm rest covers in place making sure the top stiched seam in straight. If you want to use old covers ,SEMS has a great selection of dyes. Wipe down the old arm rest with laquer thinner and when dry shoot new color on old arm rests.Ken

    door panel pieces

I woke from a dead sleep realizing I gave you the wrong info. The piece you are refering to is a filler form the back seat side to the door panel upper???? Color should be the same as interior color. This metal piece is embossed with madrid grain ,the same as the seats. I use SEMS dye for these pieces and it works very well with a satin finish. You could also use regular paint as long as it is a satin finish. Sorry for the wrong info. Ken

    Interior pieces

Ok so I got a lead to atlanta buicks and found good info, but not enough for me to translate what the hell they are trying to get across to the reader. I would like to find the factory color and code so I can paint it. This is all I need. If someone could enlighten me on the factory color of white and the code I would be greatful to all. And also the name of the paint?

    72 white isn't pearl

72 white is an off white. It isn't pearlized at all. I know of a place called Vinyl Pro of western PA
    http://www.vinylpro.com
He has the vinyl dye from SEM as a computer matched dye.
25.00 per quart, you will need a retarder, prep and soaps all from him and then spray equipment.
In the next pictures, I painted my seat backs and aprons, headrests, door panels armrest pads and base and door windlace.

    paint

Your car is really pretty.Mine is exactly the same only flame red. I did the interior in white the first time but it got too dirty. Did it the second time in Black. Liked it much better. I my have some vinyl left from my white inteior. I would send you a piece large enough to cover the metal pieces. Much easier than spending a lot of $ on paint or dye for a small part. Let me know,as I have a 72 color guide. Ken :) :) :) :)

Is the missing link that you don't know where to find the trim code on the car?
If so, it is on the body tag--a metal plate with numbers embossed on it, located on the top of the cowl, "under" the driver's side corner of the hood (You need to open the hood to see it). There should be the letters "TR" and a 3-digit number that will correspond with the codes on the Atlanta Buick site.
Hope that helped--if you already knew this, sorry...

    Ken,
Do you have any white parts that you would like to get rid of? i.e. door panels, armrest or bases, headrests etc. Thanks!

    Troy,
The '72 trim codes 155,165,465,and 695 refer to the white interior.
When I said pearl it was to identify the color shade in regard to paint manufacturers referance. The actual paint color is pearl white semi gloss.
Not white pearl as in pearlized paints.
But off white works for me too! Thats what I'd call it.
    No biggie. :beer

    72 white parts

I will look around to see what I have left. I know I sold to a guy in OK my seat covers. You know all you need to change on the 72 panel is the top pleated part.edge is covered with chrome.next is wood grain part, chrome strip and then black carpet. With a white interior the only parts that are really white are the seat covers, top part of door panel, hard shell for back of bucket seat and headrests. Headliner is black, carpet is black, kick panels are black, carpet on bottom of door panel is black, sunvisors and headliner are black. I assume this is all correct for a flame car as well as a red car. I will dig for whaite parts.Ken

    Correct code paint

Thank you for the info, when I looked up on atlantalbuicks.com I saw the specs, but someone told me it was paint code 8850 PPG-Ditzler semi gloss, Is this correct not for anything else in the interior but for the trim pieces I am painting?
