Jennifer went to visit her mother this weekend in New Hampshire. So I had to take care of the horses all weekend. I dont know how she does it. This is hard work. The schedule goes something like this...

6:30 AM- Feed them. That sounds easier than it is. Theyre both on different diets to boot. I have to wiegh all the grain and hay before feeding. Pepper gets a mix of grain, chopped hay and something called Dengi hay (plus scoops of different suppliments) This horse eats better than me! The other horse Pajamas is easy. He just gets grain and regular hay. Then I have to pick up the corral and the stalls. Whew....

1:00 PM...Feeding time again. Wiegh out all the grain and hay....again. At 1:00 I have to prepare a mix of hay cubes, rice bran and beet pulp. Then let that soak till the 7:00 feeding

    5:00- Pick up the corral

7:00 Last feeding. At 10:30 PM ( after the horses are finished) I have to go out and open the gate between the corrals so the one horse can get to the barn. Done!

Imagine doing this every day? Ive got to hand it to her. Jennifer does this on a daily basis year round and keeps down a full time job. And shes had Pepper for over 15 years. Man am I glad Im into Buicks and not horses! At least I can throw a cover on my ride in the winter. I cant wait till she get home tonight. :)

    jason,
your lucky it hasnt cost you anything. my wife, not me, has 1 dog, 3 cats, 2 geese, 3 llamas and is looking for another dog and a horse. mind you, we have the land, but setting it all up has cost big dollars.
when we bought this place, dog fence went up, 10k for that, 500 for the geese's cage/house and water bubbler so the pond doesnt freeze.
clearing out trees for the llamas, fencing, etc, 2k. now for the llama project, it has cost ME 1 operation on my elbow, 1 on my knee, 2 hands that now trigger finger(fingers curl up at nite and dont open to well in the am) and no real grip power and 1 bulldozer engine yet to be done. probably around 2k for that.
but it keeps her happy and THERE IS some equality for the buicks.
all in a days work. lol
