    Thanks you guys

We are a small group here and we need to stick together! I just would hate to see somebody that really needed it not get it. I saw the member didn't have an ebay account and did not want him to lose it to a non member through the buy it now option.

    Tis the season,
    Happy Holidays:beer

I'm a new to Buicks this year. Could someone please tell me about the B4B and why it's so special.
    Thanks

    71GS455 Best Package Wins!

    Harvey,

The B4B is the first aluminum intake for the Buick Big Block. It started with the Stage 2 package (Holley only, If I'm not mistaken), then went to both square and spreadbore. The earlier models didn't entirely cover the surface of the head, and I heard there are problems when used on the later heads. This was fixed with later models.

One of the problems with the B4B is that it wasn't designed to be considerate of the Buick ram air hood and air cleaners. The snorkles didn't line up.

Then came the Performer. From what I've read here, the Performer was basically a B4B with the carb flange moved to line up the snorkles and the hood holes, but the carb sits a bit higher requiring some trimming of fresh hood scoop foams. But, when Edelbrock did this, they didn't do any R&D into getting the most out of the runners, etc... Instead they just moved the flanges forward.

The B4B has been discontinued for several years, but it is thought of as the best choice for an aluminum dual plane for the Buicks. I bought one off the shelf back in about 1987. I'm not sure when they were disontinued.

That's how I take it after reading about them for quite a while. I hope that my info is accurate, since v8buick has been my prime source.:TU:

At least it goes to a buick guy, and not a salesman who will re-price it and sell it again. Way to go. Job well done!:TU: :beer
