On my 90 Daytona driver, the newly installed fuel line was pinched by the suspension, developing a pinhole leak. My nice floor-jack won't jack, so I stopped at Walmart and got a $15 toy jack. Don't worry, I put jackstands under my toy car. Since it was late I went to Autozone (hey, its not a real car), but they were out of the regular neoprene hose. The young clerk said there was a remnant (end of the spool) of injection hose in the trash bin. It was far more expensive, but he gave it to me at the regular neoprene price. I know this isn't a terribly big deal - it happens all the time at the hard-core parts stores; but I really didn't expect old-fashioned business from our brand new Autozone. It was a pleasant surprize.
I was surprised when they let me go all the way in the back to get the right gasket out of a drawer once.
I used to get service like that at my Auto Zone, but everyone I know fled....they all left when management went down the crapper. I don't blame them!
yea they have done the same thing for me too truzi. even with the fuel line. prolly cause thats almost always where I end up. they too let me in the back to find a hose for the cylinder head breather hose when they coulden't find the number adam gave me. I found one that would work and put it on. -nate
Let me get this straight..... He pulled it out of the TRASH BIN... and sold it to you The Parts stores down here have never done that to me.... if its not in "Inventory" (like sitting in the trash), then its Free :TU: But hey... at least you got what you needed to git er dun :beer Not many clerks will go diggin through the trash for a cust.
Did I mention that the (female ) clerk was making googly eyes and smiling at me the whole time? :Brow: Now that's service with a smile. :spank:
Madcat is right, if it came from the trash can they shoulda given it to you......cheapskates! Many years back before NAPA became corrupted and upgraded all their stores to "superstores" the guys working there were awesome to me. When they remodeled the store, they gave me a whole pile of old steel brake lines that were old stock and became discolored.........they even dropped them off at my house with the delivery truck! Now that's service :beer Them guys are all long gone now and I find friendly service from any parts store anymore the exception to the rule..........consider yourself lucky they even offered that piece of hose to you at all. :bglasses:
Autozone around here used to have a bunch of car guys working there and now that they're gone all thats left is a bunch of snot nosed punks who can't give you an oil filter without asking if it has AC.
Well, I suspect it didn't really happen like that. That's why I put "said" in italics. He said it was in the bin - but there is no way they'd put 4 feet of perfectly good hose in the trash bin just because it was at the end of the spool. It was exactly 4 feet, which is exactly what I had asked for.
