Test drove a new Vette, GTO, and Hummer!

I got this invitation in the mail a few weeks ago for this traveling circus that GM is funding. The basic premise is "no sales people, just come and test drive our cars." They also have competitor's cars for comparison. Sounds cool, so I sent in my registration. Well, this past Saturday was the day.

They basically took over a HUGE mall parking lot and set up several "test tracks" for different classes of cars. They were divided by Luxury Cars, Passenger Cars, Trucks, SUV's, Hummer :Brow: , and the Corvette, GTO, SSR group :Brow: . You had to drive some other cars before you could drive the Hummer and the Corvette group. All except those could be driven as much as you want. Bottom line ... WAY COOL!

Did you know that a BMW 530 sedan goes into slight understeer when entering a corner at high speed? I do ... I did it

The Cadillac CTS is pretty nice, The Chevy HD2500 with the Diesel has some good acceleration. I liked the Dodge truck a little better than the Chevy.

Now ... the GTO and Corvette are VERY nice. I know I shouldn't say this here, but I actually thought about selling the GS and buying a GTO. (I'm over that now.) The Corvette handles like it's on rails! I pushed it pretty hard (I've done some roundy round racing in the past) and it didn't break loose. The SSR was fun. I like it better now that I've driven one.

The Hummer was cool. They had some dirt piles set-up that put it on steep angles. That was fun.

They also supply free lunch and unlimited drinks.

If you hear about this deal coming to your town, DO IT! You'll have a fun day and it's all FREE!

    See www.autoshowinmotion.com for details.

    Have fun.
