Are Autogage gauges any good?I really want gauges but I can't afford Autometer so I figure Autogage's are the next best thing right?
    Thanks,
    Philip

I have had 2 AutoGage 2300 column-mounted tachs. First one was fine for years until I sold the car. Second one crapped out after about a year. I exchanged e-mails with their tech folks, and they confirmed that they use better curcuitry/materials in the AutoMeter stuff. Upgraded to an AutoMeter, no probs yet (only had it a couple of months)
I've never had any problems with AutoGage water temp/oil pressure.

Years ago, I had autometer autoguage's in my GS. I developed engine problems, which turned out to be cam bearings and other stuff related to a meltdown ....but the AutoGuage Oil pressure guage showed ~ 10# at idle :Do No: not bad...not good though

After rebuilding the motor (and installing new autometer guages) - just for fun - I installed the autoguage oil pressure guage to see what the variance was between the two

ALMOST 9 POUNDS HIGHER FOR THE AUTOGUAGE

....which means, If it would have shown me the correct oil pressure when I first started having a problem (Basically zero at Idle), I might not have TOASTED the whole motor and needed a total rebuild. Might.....

A Good accurate Oil Pressure Guage AND Coolant temp Guage are a MUST - they are basically the only way your engine talks to you and tells you how it is feeling

Ok, are their tach's any good?I could probably come up with the money for the Autometer 3 gauge console, but the Autometer tach's are Atleast twice as much As Autogage and I really only need the tach to break in my cam properly.

I just picked up the Autometer Pro Comp oil and water gauges, with electrical sending units, along with the Autometer Sport Comp tach. From Summit, including the 2 gauge panel, it came to $208 shipped.

I really like the 2 5/8" oil/water gauges. I ran the same tach on my GS455 and liked it enough to buy it again (of course that's because I wasn't smart enough to remove it before I sold the car).
