And the Mustang was driven by the star, (forget his name) and he only used one car. :eek2: Killed lots of old cop cars though. :Brow:

As for the Mopar vs Buick question originally asked, I'm staying out of the discussion, as I like them both.

I am not a big fan of the 68 GS cars so it was obvious for me...I do like the grilles and 1/4's on the Chargers. The Mopars will probably always bring more money because of all the choices of bodies and colors..

In the remake of VP, or part II if you will, a renegade cop takes his personal Dodge Charger out to catch up with the Challenger. The official title appears to be Vanishing Point (1997) TV. I couldn't find a picture of the Charger but this video trailer of the movie shows it:

    Yes Mike! :TU:

That was it. Even the sounds of the engines sounded real. I really loved that black charger though.

The 62 Starfire in my opinion was one of the best looking cars ever produced.

I rember a magizine article where the stunt coordinator for the movie Bullitt was interviewed. Think it was Car Craft, not really sure, and he said that up until that time it was the only chase scene that was filmed up to speed. He said they were normally filmed at half speed and then the film speed doubled, which is of course why it looks so realistic.

I remember reading that too. Steve did his own driving in that, and I don't think anything special was done to the cars either.
I like just about everything Steve McQueen did though. When I was younger, he was the epitome of cool. I really liked the movie 'The Great Escape', a true story about a 2nd world war escape from a German POW camp. He did his own motorcycle stunts too.

PS there were no musclecars in that movie. ;)

Yes the guy in the interview said he did the driving in Bullitt, all but one scene. Remember the kind of stairstep streets in Frisco, they were going down hill and the Mustang slid sideways and made a hard left? He said Steve slid through that corner three times and finally let them use a stunt driver for that turn.

Well, the Challenger is a 4 speed convertible-- easily worth what was paid.

That was a GREAT flick. One of my favorites. There were a LOT of stars in that movie. If I remember correctly, I think James Coburn and Charlie Bronson were also in it, among many others.
