Can get either and the price difference is $52.00 with the Eaton being more for a 3.08 carrier set up. From what I can see, different posts say Auburn is non rebuildable and reliable and others say thats not true and it's is actually better. Don't plan on blowing anything up and was leaning towards the Auburn. Opinions?? Gears will be Richmond or similar.
Auburn ECTED!!!!! I've got one in the Mustang. Its full posi and then go full spool at the flick of a switch!:TU: :3gears: Yea, its more money, but I'm not burning up clutches anymore either. I'd be all over it if they made them for the 9-3/8's for the Riv, and I haven't ruled out figuring out what machining would be necissary to convert one to do it either. Erik
If you already haven't done so, contact Jim http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?u=3880 I'm sorry if maybe I already recommended him for your project. Devon
JEGS has the Auburn for our car on sale for 339.00 right now. Double check part numbers. Pretty tough to beat that. And yes the Eaton are rebuildable but when was the last time you rebuilt a posi?? Seriously, they last forever unless you plan on 20,000 miles a year.
Thanks Bought the Auburn, ring and pinion, and install kit all from Jegs based on the advice of my shop guy. Hopefully it will all be good!
I had my rear overhauled with a auborn and 3.23 gears. I was told to not get on it till the gears had heated and cooled a few times. Set up is way better than the 2.73 pegleg burnouts I had before.
Yup my gears say 15-20 miles then cool completely. Then do it again. Then no big loads or towing until 500 miles on the gears...I also ran car on jackstands for 5 minutes slow speed to make sure no big issues and get the lube circulating.
