Well, we are back, the new host is much faster, moving the board has always been a pain, but this time was crazy. _________ For those who did not see this: Here is the post from Mike-- Well gang, the move is finished. I have about 2000 more gray hairs now. GoDaddy was horrible and the new company (H2Hosting) was very disappointing to say the least. H2Hosting didn’t lift a finger during the entire migration. So, GoDaddy is now BlowDaddy in my book. The old server hard drives took a dump. It took them 2 days to reprevision the server, and after 4 days of hearing excuses as to why the site wouldn’t run, I gave up on them. H2Hosting reprevisioned a server in 30 minutes. They had issues with the Plesk panels not being compatible with their migration utilities and didn’t want to touch the server. Not much help there. Anyways, this thread is for all members to respond to any issues they may be having. Let me know!!! BTW: I’m working on a better search engine. Thanks for your patience. _________ From my perspective, I will say this... we got lucky with blowdaddy for about 18 months.. but I had a feeling when we started having server errors that we might have to take the board elsewhere to get it working as it should again. So I went with what is really a "Electra Limited" package (was going to say Cadillac, caught myself ) for the hosting package, from the highest rated, most established host I could find. There were not the greatest during the move, but they did say that their "managed hosting" begins once the move is complete.. We will see. And now that it's on a C-panel system again, it will be no problem to move again if we have to. We are paying a premium price now for hosting, and if it has the 99.9% up time, and if they are the v-bulletin experts they claim they are, it will be worth it. When I got up this morning, very first thing I see is a PM from Tom Miller, stating he cannot post without moderation, and asking about a post he just made before the crash. I think I have the moderation thing licked.. it was a spam program that re-activated at the move or update.. I shut it off. Please post some reply to this thread.. a grunt will do.. this allows me to see if that moderation problem is taken care of, and if not, it gives me some type of pattern to look at.. not all folks posts were moderated before I shut it off.. only ones deemed as spam.. So I need a clue as to where to look if this is still an issue. As to Tom's other question-- the crash happened in the very early morning hours of March 9th... and we did have to revert to the last database backup, which was from the 7th. So we did lose about a day of data. IF your missing a thread or post- repost it, as it will not be coming back.. sorry for the hassle. And of course, the board should function without errors, and be much faster now. Thanks JW
Grunt! Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone! It's good to have V8 back. Thanks Jim and everyone else who makes it happen. Patrick
So glad it is back up! I actually needed some information that KNEW was on here, and couldn't get it. Worse than withdrawals, I guess.
Thanks for all of your efforts ... glad to have my favorite place to visit on the internet back in action ...
Ya, I had one user email me (when my email came back up) and say.. "So this is what detox feels like" I agree.. beyond the PIA to get this going, and the serious frustration with blowdaddy.. it was surreal to live in a world without V8buick.com. I didn't like it. New host promises 99.9% up time, as well as 24/7 monitoring, they boast they will fix problems before we even see them. As I would suspect with the big bucks Managed Dedicated server package... It was suppose to be that over at blowdaddy, but we will see if you get what you pay for.. blowdaddy was not cheap, these guys are more expensive yet, but if it works like it should, and I never have to re-live the past week, then it will be worth it.
