Looking for an obscure part. The molding that goes across the base of the deck just behind the rear window separating the vinyl from the paint. It's a thin stainless molding. I need the CLIPS that hold it on. Where can I get these, or does anyone have them?

Thanks guys. None of you's guys have ever had to get new ones? The reason I ask is because that is a literal sea of clips, I would most assuredly order the incorrect ones, I just know I would. Looking at all those clips is like trying to sort through a chinese food menu.

I can certainly give it a try though. Let me know if you know of anyone who has indeed scored the correct clip for this application, I would greatly appreciate it. :beer

Unfortunately, I don't know if they are the same, and neither does the seller.

I don't have any of my originals.

Surely their must be a 69 owner who knows what clips go under this moulding. :Do No:

I have had NO LUCK finding anyone who knows what are the right clips for me to use for this application. Out of the thousands of people on this board, I know somebody knows. :Do No:

I'm at a dead end because I don't have an original to look at. Otherwise, the above links and ebay would be extremely useful.

Ken did your's have a vinyl top or are you adding one :Do No:

any way I went out an gave mine a quick look... and it looks to me like it would have the tack welded studs and the plastic clips like 70lark showed

are you studs still there :puzzled:

my top was removed when I got the car but... the trim is still their..... If you don't find out anything soon I can probably go out an remove the trim it
    depends on the weather..

Mark, that would be AWESOME if you could do that. Do you think yours would be the same as mine though? I have GS not a Rivvy. Totally different trim.

Yes, it's a vinyl roof car, studs are there, just need the clips to put my molding on. I saw all the pics and links that were posted graciously by everybody, but there are SO MANY DIFFERENT KINDS it's mind boggling. And since I don't have any of the originals I can't compare to a picture. I can only speculate that they might be similar. Trying to avoid a year of trial and error buying and shipping parts back and forth till I get the ones I need.

I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one here who's ever had this trim off and needed clips.

Maybe my thread isn't entertaining enough. I should have named it "Buicks run like they're tied to a stump" just to get people to look.

    Ahh. :Dou:

    Didn't read the sig.

Thanks Mark. It'll be great to see what the heck these thingy's really look like.

Make sure that molding id no the wide kind though. It's gotta be thin. I think they made a couple different widths. Just to complicate things.

    V top clip

Ken is this what you are looking for. This is from a 69 with V top chrome.
Picture 1, is the two clips and the stud this is a screw in one, they also make them that attach with a stud gun. Picture 2, is with a ruler. Picture 3, is the clip on the car, a side V top chrome from a 69 GS. Hope this helps. Thanks Bill.

    Bill,

They has GOT to be the ones! I have all the studs welded to the car, came from factory like that. I don't need the screws. I've seen them for sale. I guess sometimes they rot off.

Now the question is, where can I get them? Can you get a non blurry pic of one looking from the top down very close up? That might be the only way I can identify from pics on Mr G's website.

I would bet a million dollars that they are available from a few guys I saw on ebay I was checking out, but the problem is THEY would never know the application for a Buick. So many different clips were used on these cars.

I think they are what I need though Bill.

Bill, these two clips look like they are a different size. Did they come from different moldings?

The molding I need to attach is the one behind the rear window that runs across the deck and connects the two corner pieces.

Ken as near as I can tell they are the same. The one that looks smaller is missing both the pads that the chrome snaps against to prevent rubbing against the paint. The other one has only one. Both of these came off the side of the V top on a 69. PM me your address and I will send both of them to you. I do not have any new ones. Thought I did but cannot find. Thanks Bill.
