What do you do when you have parts of a rare car laying around and a very clean one owner regular car. Put them together and build a CLONE.

What is it? First clue: :Do No:

Very close. Add 2 years to it.

We been putting parts together for several months now to fix a super clean old 70 Cutlass S. The little S never knew it could look so good. My buddy has been working at our shop for several weeks on it. Installed a 70 455. Detailed the front when the clip was off. Ordered all new gold interior, now ready for install. Buckets and console. Turbo 350 tranny. He did all the body work and trimming out and assembly at our shop, but I didn't want him to spray it there since the paint room isn't installed yet. So, I rented this booth for the weekend. We worked till late last night and got it sprayed today. I just got home. I love the color combo! Wished I had enough cash to pay dad and my buddy off so I could keep it. But, this one will go to market in a few weeks. Gotta have a little fun with it before it leaves though! :3gears:

Not a W30, but that one is coming soon. Been collecting many $$$ of parts to clone a 71 convertible this summer. Blue with white interior. Rockcrusher car! :Brow: It will never hit the market until we start getting hungry because there will be more money in it than it will ever bring. Ever bought a NOS set of red innerfenders? I hope we don't have to again.

Sounds like a good idea. I have always placed the 442 second on my list of fav. muscle cars, right behind the GS. Looks like it is coming together greatly by the pics. I love that color combo as well.

Keep us updated on it :) :3gears: :TU:

More pics will come. I am going to take it back to our shop on Sun. He will get to work on Mon. and start assembly. All we are waiting on now is a repo breather and 442 rear bumper with exh. tips. Seats are done and panels all dyed. Engine needs a good tune and brakes need bleeding. Mount the new rubber and hit the road. Is it just me or do GSs and 442s go together? I know several locally that like Olds and Buick. I know I do. And dad has gone nuts for them.

I like olds and Buick. I think some olds models just might look better than similar Buicks. 70 ragtops and late 80's intermediates come to mind. I WANT this one...

I may get a 69-72 Cutlass, for my daily driver in a few years. Would it be a good car to drive daily??????? And, did a plain Cutlass come with a 4-speed?

Old cars don't make the greatest daily drivers. But, I would consider it. Gas would be tough right now. Guess it all depends on how much you drive. They did make 4 speed Cutlass cars. We have one in a paint shop right now being finished. It is a one owner 1970 Cutlass Supreme with buckets and a Muncie 4 speed.

I know quite a few people who love olds and buicks as their top fav. cars. Oldsmobile and Buicks are both great makes, and you won't find many buick people on here or anywhere for that matter, who will say olds is not a good car. If I had to choose between a '70 442 W-30 and a '70 GS Stage 1, it would take me an awful long time to decide between the 2, both are very powerful and classy looking machines. Of course like I said, the 442 comes after the GS in my list, so I would probably choose the stage 1, but the W-30 is definetly a second pick. Olds and Buick are close cousins. :beer :TU:

That would be a tough one. The W30's seem to be bringing a little more money right now, but if I had either one, it would not be for sale, so selling price doesn't matter. I would go with a Stage 1 GSX. I like both car designs, but there are more positives for the GSX in my book.

Yeah, I would probably go w/ the GS too. I may get a 69 or 70 Corvette for my daily driver. Could you get better gas milage with a 350 cid Vette?

I'll tell ya, I'm a Buick guy at heart but I think the 442's look just as good as the GS. They are both very classy looking muscle cars. I don't think you can go wrong owning either one.
When I was growing up my dad had a 69 442 vert. 400/4spd all black. Some of my best memories were riding in the back of that car. He was always clubbing on that car and it hauled a$$. Maybe that's where I developed my gear banging technique. :Brow:

Well here is my GS455's little brother. Dad just bought this thing last week. I love it. Wished my GS was as nice. Only 1029 of these W31's made. It don't have much out of the hole, but once it's rolling, it does good. :3gears:
