And what size are the different bolts, if they are different?

Smaller on the earlier intakes as I recall. It has been discussed here in the past.

    Yes, 67-69 use a 3/8" bolt while 70-72 use a 7/16" bolt.

Does anyone know the thread pitch and fine/coarse? Like an 18-8 for example?
I want to try and buy the bolts tomorrow

3/8-16. Standard coarse thread bolts available almost anywhere. The el cheapo bolts will snap before 45 ft-lbs so make sure you get grade 8.

The thread is the same as the 455,only the bolt is smaller. My GS ,it runs in the middle 11's has all stock bolts in it.My race car has all aftermarket bolts, but that has run a best of 9.04- 147.1/2 mph.Bruno.

Ok laymen If you use a 9/16 socket most common is 3/8-16 thats the bolt size of the 70 and newer heads.

    1/2 socket is 7/16-14 thread on 67 68 69 heads

Turns out several of the head threads were plugged with junk, there will be more problems in the future I’m sure.

FWIW get a tap & die set.. even a harbor Freight one good enough to clean threads...

If you plan on torquing to the right spec its a must have..

Tap & dies cut threads. IF you ever notice even IF the hole is clean running taps & dies remove metal which is NOT GOOD. Now you have a forever loose bolt/nut. What you need is thread clean out tap & dies. Removes debris & NOT metal.

Got ask what do you use to clean out the rust and old crappy thread lubes out of bolt hole? Bolts ae EZ a wire brush or wheel.

When you wire brush the bolts it rounds of the threads & AGAIN you have FOREVER loose bolts.
YOU NEED THREAD RESTORATION taps & dies. Readily available. Good sets are costly like Snap On etc.
They DON'T remove any metal. Just cleans the threads as they are a few thou. smaller or larger depending on if bolts or nuts.
