I may be late in getting the news, but I just ran across a link to these tonight.

It looks as if they are only available in black, but the site states that they are paintable. These should be a match to the ones used in our Buicks, correct? This is the first time I have seen a 16" armrest base reproduction.

    Has anyone tried these? Thoughts?

I saw them in the Year One catalog and have the same questions!

I purchased these a few months ago for a restoration I'm doing on my 69 GS400 conv. They only come in black so you need to paint them. My interior is pearl so I first painted them with an antique white vinyl spray and then followed that with the pearl white vinyl spray from Year One. The came out great. Car is still at shop getting put together so I cant post any pics yet but I was very pleased with the way these turned out.

It appears so. They are twice the cost, but...

Here's a link to the front armrest pads at Year One. If the bases are correct, I'm assuming these will fit them. Just like Brian said, they are not cheap, so it may be better to have a set covered if you have some worn originals.

Here's a link to a set of pads on eBay that are sold by California Pontiac Restoration but are shipped from La Grange, KY (PUI). They are the most inexpensive I have found, but the shipping cost helps to negate that quickly for me (even though I am in KY).

If they are original material polypropylene plastic use a clear adhesion promotor from SEM or Bulldig first. After two coats follow up with a lacquer based paint. Otherwise paint may not take, this works on factory pieces.

I would love to see some comparison photos of one of these reproductions alongside an original. I am in need of these for a '70 GS that has the 16" bases, but I want to be sure they are a good fit before pulling the trigger on a purchase.
