Nice board! I have a 1964 Apollo GT 5000. Italian bodied sports car, finished in Oakland California. Earlier cars had the Buick 225 and later cars the Buick 300 with Vette T10 tranny. 88 total were produced. Car weighed only 2400 pounds and hit 140 mph with a stock driveline.

    Buick small blocks rock!

Cool car man. I never heard of it. Buick did some funky stuff way back when, what with the Opel as well...

Who actually designed the Opel body?

Sweet Apollo. Thanks for posting the pic. I am a HUGE fan of the Italian/European exotics that used American muscle underhood. And using a Buick is very cool. Anyone remeber some of these companies that used American muscle power?.......Facel-Vega, Jensen, Gordon-Keeble, Iso, TVR, etc etc. So when you see an exotic at a show take a peek under the hood. You never know what you'll find.

    Hybrid's rock

You are very correct. Facel Vegas, especially the ones with Chrysler Hemis are fast, luxurious and different. The ultimate 2+2.

The Iso Grifo remains high on my list. Vette engine in a gorgeous body. Some had 427s and were the fastest car in the world until 1968 when the Monteverdi Hai came out. The Hai (shark) had a mid-engine 426 hemi with ZF 5 speed. Only 8 were made!

The Apollo was light, fast, had the best quality leather and either a Buick 225 or 300. I've hit 150 miles per hour while listening to the Beach Boys 'shutdown". I have ported heads, cam, custom 11-1 forged pistons, rollers and 355 gears.

Luckily, hybrids have been relatively inexpensive to purchase. That is changing as Ferraris and Maseratis climb to the moon price-wise and the smarter one realize that they cost and arm and leg to run each year.

Now all I need is a cool 455 GS!!!

wow that car is b-e-a-utiful!! There is a little bit of info on it on the Buickapollo.com site (although that site caters to the 73-75 apollos) in the apollo ad section its the third link down. It really is neat to see an actual picture of one though!

The thought of banging gears in that Apollo GT gives me goosebumps! How about a few more pics? Theres a section on the board for pictures of cars that aren't Buicks. Could you show us the Volante as well?
