The 12 steps to becoming AOL free!

    1) We admit that we are powerless over AOL - that our computers have become unmanageable.

AOL has me down! My computer is a mess!

    2) Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves (a real ISP) could restore us to sanity.

    There is help!

    3) Make a decision to turn our will and our computers over to the care of an ISP, as we understood them.

I let an ISP take over!

    4) Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of our computer software and operating system.

I need to look at my entire system!

    5) Admitted to the ISP, to ourselves and to another ISP being the exact nature of our wrongs.

I admit all I did wrong!

    6) Were entirely ready to have the ISP remove all these defects of our computer system.

    I want to be free!

    7) Humbly asked the ISP to remove our shortcomings.

I ask an ISP to help me be free!

    8) Make a list of all persons we have dropped connections with, didn't get email to, couldn't answer a post, and become willing to make amends to them all.

I ask: Who did I not reply to? How can I fix it?

    9) Make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would send them a computer virus.

I try to fix thing if I can!

    10) Continued to take software inventory and when we were wrongly disconnected from the Internet or my system locked up.

I check up on my computer! I am honest about these disruptions.

    11) Sought through book and manuals to improve our conscious contact with our ISP, as we understand them, searching for more knowledge for high-speed Internet access and the power to carry that out.

I ask the ISP for help to live without disconnection, slow speed, disappearing files and intermittent lock-ups.

    12) Having had high speed and real ISP awakening as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to AOLICS, and practice these principals on all our computer systems.

I live these steps and get high-speed access without disruption or file loss. I try to help other AOLICS.
