I have a 1972 Skylark converter with a mildly modified 350, headers, cam, 3.08 gears etc. I plan on a nice street cruiser with some power when I need it!!! I have purchased the Flowmaster American Thunder from Summit, it came with their 30 series mufflers, how loud will these be? I want a throaty deep sound but nothing annoying, any comments would be helpful as I am putting the car together this weekend. Thanks Tim
i have the same system on my 455 with 1 7/8 headers and 2 1/2 inch pipes ,its plenty loud when i get on it ,but it cruises very nice at 2500 rpms . its not too loud just right for me....... mike
Mike thanks for the reply, I think it should be OK especailly when I have the top down. I will be cruising at about 2,600rpm's on the highway! Tim
One of my buddies has this same system on his 68 Pontiac Tempest, with a 502 Chebby motor, and it sounds great!! It has a nice low rumble, but when he opens it up, it sounds great. I'm getting the same system for my 455, but without the mufflers. I'm going with the 40 series mufflers to get even more rumble and sound. I don't have my stereo connected yet, and could just sit and listen to the motor all day long. (If it were running) ou: You can got www.flowmastermufflers.com and listen to several systems and motor combinations.
kind of My friend installed one of these systems along with the short case Dyno-Max mufflers on his 455 Cutlass. I think it sounds great!
I want to get TA headers and the American Thunder Exhaust System too, but I want the 40 Series Mufflers, I want to order from Summit and they come with 30 Series, what should I do? Slawek
The mufflers come in their own box so maybe Summit will sub out the 30 series for the 40's or call Flowmaster and see if they will put the system together for you! Tim
How is that working out? I just got the same system only 3" for my GS400. I'm expecting it to be a bit loud. How's the 2 1/2 sounding? D
