He has a twin turbo 1000 H.P. toronodo...Can you say Burnout!!! Stanley Steamers!!!! and oh yes a couple of BUICKs... Was that cool!!!! Then he finds a Duecemburg (spelling) in his own back yard..... Like a kid in a candy store!!! WOW!!! Must be nice to be able to afford it once it was found....... If you didn't get a chance to watch it I reccomend it highly..... :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: Randy

I saw one tuesday I think where Jay found the last Duesenberg X. They went to his shop too and showed the steamers too.

That Toronado must be intense. I wish I saw it. I love the design of those cars. What year was it?

Ligenfelter built the motor and it was dialed in to well over a thousand horsepower. It was too much for the tires so they had to detune it a bit to 700. It has a corvette chassis under it. Road and Track had a article on it and a test drive. It was awesome. The wheels are custom built to look like the original.

    Wrong wheel drive

    Sorry guys:

That car is incredible, but, the wrong wheels are driving it! :Brow:

I grew up with friends that had hot rodded a couple of those and the burnouts were incredible, coming from the front tires, of course!

The show was cool, though. I think Jay is a real car guy and appreciates the cars much the same way that most of us do: as a part of our countries history that will never return.

I love most of the old cars regardless of make, but, maybe that's because I know them so much better than the late model ricers. :spank:

Read the article closer Jim. He converted it to RWD. :Brow:

I saw this show. I would LOVE to know what he paid for that Duesy. I'd bet somewhere around $100K or more. Any other guesses? Or did they say. I missed the first few minutes of the show "RIDES".

I'd say thats pretty low given GM gave him a vette for the chassis and prototype HO engines plus the turbos and all manhours for enginnering and paint. I'd bet closer to 250,000.00 easy....the rims alone are probaby 5k each...

The Dusey was nice, the Olds was awsome but the silver and black 55 Roadmaster is unbelieveable.

Too bad that '55 Roadmaster has BB Shivvie power under the hood.:error: :boring:

Who hear would not love to see a stroked & poked Stage 3 under the hood instead?:Do No: I'm quite sure Jay has MORE than enough to cash to put REAL Buick Power under the hood of that '55. I'm sure he does NOT spend the kind of money like everyone thinks he does on many of his cars due to GM giving him crated power plants (Shivvie of course:Dou: ), chassis, and ALL the technical support a guy could want.

I'm sorry if it offends anyone but I am a purist when it comes to cars...at least powerplant wise.:Brow: If ya gotta build a Shivvie, then find a Shivvie ta put it in!......But that's just me.:TU:

well actually it was a non production crate motor......a 572 big block.........before it was released to the public........based on the chevy big block however

  20. that makes 3 of those engines that i am aware of that GM let go before they released them to the public. first was for project Copperhead on the show trucks, next was for the Nova on HP tv and then Jay leno and the 55 Buick
each claimed to have the first engine released.
