I recently pulled some parts from a junkyard, including an intake manifold from a 1961 Invicta, 4 BBL 401 Nailhead. Turns out I don't need it (long story!). If anyone is looking for one, let me know (I can send pictures, if interested).

I couldn't say for sure, but according to the "Hollander Interchange," this intake manifold can be used on the following vehicles: (1) All 1959 4 barrel Buicks, except Lesabre; (2) All 1960 4 barrel Buicks, except Lesabre; (3) All 1961 4 barrel Buicks, except Lesabre; (4) 1962 4 barrel Lesabre; (5) 1962 Buick Invicta; and (6) 1962 Buick Electra "225".

:( ...Well crap....it seems to me that I'm not gonna find any performance parts for this thing...not even a intake...engine runs great as long as i'm dumping gas down it by hand, pump is bad in the carb but I don't want to spend any money on that carb because I don't want a 2 bl......how can I find out what year or engine I can get a intake off of to work on mine 63 401?...thanks for the help tho.....James

If you'll tell me what model you've got (and what options, like a/c or not, standard or automatic), I'll take a look in the Hollander Interchange for you . . . That should tell you what other cars' intake manifolds you could possibly use. You should think about picking up a set of the books; relatively inexpensive (about $50 for the set), but loaded with info. on what parts from which cars can be used on yours.

James, I don't see any reason why you couldn't swap this intake. I've asked over on the Nailhead site about the exception of Lesabre's. I have no idea why it wouldn't fit. When your going from 401 to 401 and both with Dynaflows it should be simple.
Don't give up on it yet we'll see what some of the others have to add.

:TU: ..Thanks for all the help, y'all good peoples!...Its a 1963 LeSabre, 401, no a/c, auto...I to don't understand it being a LeSabre has anything to do with the intake working...with his intake tho, it says nothing about 63...only up to 62, but I would think the body style would have nothing to do with it....these old Buicks are all new to me....I've been doing 67-73 Ford trucks, Austin Healeys, and Camaros....well and new low riders :bglasses: but I never seen anything like these cars...no one makes repo parts for them....and engine parts, I'm lost, but its nice to know theres folks like y'all tryin hard to help me....Thanks so much!!.....James

    James,
I've got a few complete 4v intake setups for 63-66 nailheads. I think a perfect match for your car is an intake setup I have from a '63 Wildcat. Let me know if you would like to see pictures?

Yes sir I would...I don't need a carb...I'm a Edler man, love them cards and I like putting new ones on because I drive my toys...its nothing for me to head out 2-3 hundred miles in mine so I try to cover all the bases so to speak so I always buy new carbs...but yeah I'd like to see what you have and let me know a price..we'll see what we can do.....I'm going tomorrow to look at a 65 GS convertible but even if I bring it home...I still want to keep the 401 in the LeSabre for a back up.....the GS has a 401 in it also but its a 2 4bl motor and its complete......Thanks again for all this great help....James

Here it is! $75/shipped sound fair to you? Unique to the '63 intake is the vacume port on front and the mounting holes for the coil bracket on the back. This should be a direct replacement for your 2v intake.

Yeah I've shipped a few of the ford intakes, these are not nearly as heavy. Shipping will be about $35. PM me for payment details.

I did find a buyer for my 1961 intake . . . If you don't mind my asking: (1) what service do you use to ship these things (UPS, USPS, etc.); and (2) what do you use to box them up (without the box breaking under the weight of it)?

Thanks! Glad things worked out for everyone . . .
