This must be very rare to be asking that kind of money. And he has another one listed, just not quite as much.uzzled: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-BUICK-...Q-jet-/182123657931?hash=item2a676a7acb:g:~4I Larry
Hi Gary, I would like to know what is incorrect about the top. From my understanding it is correct. In no way do I want to misrepresent the carb. Looks the same as this one to me http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?309993-7040246-stage-1-carb Nelson
Your not supposed to see the poe holes there below the flaps on high performance Q jets...the 45 chop I dont know about
Jason. Stage 1 carbs had the POE exits located lower, below the flaps when they are closed. The 7040243 GS455 4-speed carbs did as well.
Correct. This picture I posted was for a regular Buick Quadrajet. These holes are below on Stage 1 and 4 speed carbs, and some others. The 45 degree vent tube should be on the one listed on ebay, but those are easily exchanged. It appears to be correct to me overall, other than a vent tube swap.
Good day I think this is a replacement carb. With the September of 70 date code. 70 car production stopped in July /August.So it could not of been on a car when it was built.
More pictures. I think the top is correct so someone must have changed the vent tube. It pulled out with my fingers but I will put a correct one back in. Thanks Nelson
Nelson Looks like everything else is correct. In fact I saw another stage1 carb supposedly unmolested with a correct top that also had a straight tube. So maybe that tube could be correct too, we've seen stranger things happen. I may have misspoke and am wrong. gary
The date code shows it is a service replacement. 71 GS's were rolling off the line before that carb was made. Nice carb though...
