I have a original 71 GSX spolier and wondered what all I need to install this on a 72 GS. I know about drilling the decklid ect....... But didn't the GSX's have some extra supports or braces?

This spoiler is really heavy and I heard it would cause damage to the decklid if not installed correctly.

If anyone has any info on installing this properly please let me know.

    Thanks:TU:

When I bought mine (Poston repro) I bought a mounting kit which consisted of 2 metal brackets that you wedge between the skins of the deck lid.
You will also have problems with the trunk staying open on it's own unless you have the heavy duty deck lid springs (to overcome the extra weight of the spoiler)
Luckly the 71 already had the heavy springs.

    Dustin,
I believe all you need are the brackets that attach inside the decklid. Year One sells them, part # MSE1P, 19.95/pr. I believe the torsion bar that holds the decklid open has to be upgraded because of the added weight, otherwise the trunk will not stay open.

Can't the torsion bar be moved into a different slot to give it more spring? I saw a pic and some info somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.
