Alcapp Auto Glass Inc in Locust Valley did a great job on my replacement of windshiled and rear window. Rear window was tough as car went from vinyl top to hardtop and molding was sitting too high.

Dave called me in before windshield replacement to show me base metal rusted out. Prior owner had siliconed crap out of it to seal out water. Dave explained he could get window in but it would leak and not fit tight due to lack of metal base.

He doesn't work with any shop in particular and said to look around because it could cost from a cople of hundred to over a thousand depending on where I went.

Need to get it done since it is leaking like a sieve; and, he explained rust caused first windshiled to crack and will do same to new one eventually.

    Any recommendations?

    PS

Dave at Alcapp is very reasonable in his pricing. Price came in less than his quote, too! :)

    EDIT

    for the Riv

    Bump

Quick before the next rainfall!

My car cover was purchased at a tag sale for my daughter's soccer team by someone who saw it lying on grass after I removed it to take the car out for a spin to pickup some bagels and lunch meat for soccer folk.

Knucklehead soccer mom sold it upon his inquiry for $20.00.

Jim...As far as body shops go, three come to mind. All are sympathetic to old cars. My first choice is Bel-Air Auto Body. This guy does new cars to pay the bills, but the shop and lot are full of 50s and 60s cars. He's into it. My second choice would be Commack Auto Body. The body man there is named Charlie. Charlie did all the body work on my 71. Charlie has great talent but youll have to deal with the owner. Commack seemed to be a bit pricey. One other recommendation would be Rob at Relations Auto Body. Rob is the owner. Rob re painted the hood of my 71 after 2 exhaust pipes fell on it. Out of all three I would pick Bel-Air. Sorry, but I dont have a number for you. Im sure hes in the book though. Good luck. Let us know who you eventually use.
