I belong to Oldminibikes dot com. May want to try there if not a member already. Good luck with the sale
Dadrider, Thanks for the information but in no hurry /or rush to sell these. I stay off of E-bay and CL due to all of the "experts" (creeps) who think they know a lot more than they really do. Come on Spring, 2016. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan.
I understand that feeling. I tend to shy away from those also. Never bought a bike on ebay. But...... 1 bought 1 bike on CL 6 or 7 yr ago but that included 7 or 8 email and a couple of phone calls before we made the trip. I bought another on local CL but that gent was 4 or 5 miles away, make a visit just to look it over, and we hit it off right away. He came down $150 on the price, I bought it 2 days later. Bought 1 bike on a forum, 2 yrs ago. That was a 12 to 15 email, 2 phone calls and a call to another forum member to verify the seller. We both were very wary but that sale worked out very good, That bike I had shipped, It was a little nervous for both of us. but she showed up in good shape. Just because it worked out 1 time well, I am not convinced that I will buy a bike and have it shipped again. The last experience worked out very well. But as the addage goes. Let the buyer beware. I agree, the minibike and the enduro bike restoration / preservation industry has taken off, I am on 4 or 5 forums, have been for awhile, there are some good guys out there for sure, but there are some real boogers too. I hope you find someone local, or at least someone who keeps their word. For me, when the deal was right, I knew it on the inside before hand. I have always taken my time, verify as much as you can, and sell local or via regional show if you can. I have been doing this only for the last 13 yr or so. I consider myself a part timer and still a newbie at this. I think having that attitude keeps me out of trouble. The last 6 or 7 years, I have been able to buy cash on hand. Early on I used a credit union that understood what I was doing and helped out as much as they could. But Cash on hand is generally what buyers are ready for. That isn't rocket science at all is it? I do not plan on doing this as a business, more as a hobby. I have 2 bikes on my bucket liststill to acquire, 1 I am hopefully getting this summer or fall. They will be used as gifts for the kids when the time comes, and I think by buying the bikes I have, I have put a little of my blue collar money in a 2 wheel mutual fund. But I started riding at 8 1/2 yrs old. I'm 57 1/2 now it was a natural for me to invest a little money in my passion / hobby. Even if they don't go up like a skyrocket in price over the years, My kids appreciate the fact that they have something from Dad. They can keep them or sell them off as they wish. Or if I need to, I'll sell them off for spending cash during retirement. There is a Vintage Bike Festival at Barber in Birmingham, Ala. the last 11 yrs or so. It is a good place to buy and sell if your sharp and know what to look for in a bike. You also have to, I say have to know when it's time to walk away. Kenny Rogers sung it right.... You got to know when to hold em...... Having said that I am planning on buying a bike this year, we have it all settled except the final price. I have known the guy for 5 or 6 yrs now. He helped me thru the buying process on the bike I bought 2 yrs ago. He is turning 70 this year and thinning out his collection. I am planning to pick up 1 in his collection as a 3rd owner and keep it for 10 -15 yrs or so, and enjoy it. If all goes well we will meet in Tennessee this summer or at Barber in the fall. I am not in a rush. When buying anything vintage or valuable, you never need to be in too big of a rush. That was a lot. But again good luck with the sale. Hope you find a buyer that will appreciate the bike and your care of it. Dadrider.
I am working 75 hours a week for the next couple of weeks. ou: If anyone wants to go for a ride on the Suzuki, let me know Otherwise I will probably take them to Indy @ Mecum in May, along with one of my GS's. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan.
